I'm going to put together a triple with a convoy s light, I ordered parts already but I'm wondering if I ordered the right parts.
should I use an xpg2 r5 2b or xpl v6 3c? I don't know which will be brighter. both options dedomed on noctigon, I'm wanting the brightest I can get.
I have both. The xpl will be brighter. Use the 17dd with a step down. Myself, I prefer a cooler tint.
The XPL definitely will put out more light—with a fet driver use the copper spacer—the heat will be the issue—to me with the Convoy host anything above 6amps the run time is too short and gets kind of dangerous—I have found that using a driver with 16chips gives a little over 6amps then have a medium around 2.75amps this is the highest I’ve been able to get sustained run times out of—even so after running the light on high till the 2min step down the little light cant recover from the heat but from startup the medium will give you a great output for lengthy run times-there is a way to modify the optic so you don’t have to dedome—personally I like the dedome with the 511 optic slightly polished
The XP-G2 makes a great light—The XP-L will make you giggle and say DAMM that’s bright
Unless you want a real flood beam..like a TIR..don't modify the optic.
