Is there a 26650 or 32650 based light that has a JUMBO 3.5~4.5in head? Single LED for throw

So,
I just built a 2D Mag MTG2 with a 80mm/3.2inch head and it does 102K lux or so.

Since I used JB weld a lot, I can just glue the bezel from another host with an even bigger bezel/reflector combo.
These days all the big bezel lights I see have dozens of XML2’s so those wont work. I just want a single LED reflectored one to throw.

Is there such a light?

What about the Courui D01 Well, it’s not a 26650/32650, but it is a 1S3P 18650 light. And with some tweaking (really just minor adjustments), it’s a monster thrower.

I haven't tried one yet, but CNQ has a massive looking thrower.

It may look bigger than it is, that’s only a 66mm head diameter from what I can tell.

I recently ordered one of these 86mmx90mm reflectors from kaidomain http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S021796
That’s a 3.5” diameter reflector and very deep so it should be an epic thrower…if you can find/build a host for it!

Judging by your cool thrower project I’m guessing you wont have too much trouble making a host for something like that.

I think that just about the only host I could make to fit a reflector that big is called the TK61 .

I think that MRSnDNF (Steve) could do something pretty cool with it.

I wasn't paying attention this morning when I responded...and missed that we were talking about inches and not mm or cm. I was thinking that 40mm wasn't all that massive...

Oh boy….that’s exactly what I need. Now I gotta find a head to epoxy onto my existing 2D Mags or 2C Mags. BTW all MTG2 DD.

Thank you,
bigC

Maybe this head might work but dang its ubber expensive

The reflector talked about here will not fit straight into the TK61. This reflector is longer and needs an extension made to adapt it. No, I haven't made one.

where is your build thread on matting that reflector and making it work?

Theres another member here that has all the guff about this mod. He may pop his head in if he wants to be known.

My question would be is there any advantage to swapping out the reflector? I haven't seen any tests.

I just saw the Fenix TK61 can be seen on Ebay for $112. It says the head is 3.8in with a huge reflector to boot

I would of course use the head/reflector to epoxy it on my Maglite. Hummmm.

Anybody seen a Chinesse Clone Fenix TK61 in hopes of finding a less expensive host to steal parts from.

thanks,
bigC

The TK61 MTG2 rocks- I built 2 so far and I’m on my 3rd. It blows away any and all of my modded single MTG2 FETDD lights and I have 4 (26650 battery style ), and a modded K40M which are no match for the TK61MTG2, with Richard’s FETDD regulated (no zener) driver and the TK61 (V54) modded carrier and almost 11 amps with 25R’s, it is AWESOME!!! I removed the aluminum puny xml2 shelf and made a custom 8mm thick stepped copper heat sink, pressed fitted, that also center’s the LED star or mcpcb board if you wish, and reflector together so there’s no need for frustrating tuning or shorting. And the way I did it you won’t melt your reflector, because they are after all plastic! PM me and I can send you pics and prints, if you want. Fenix has a Refurbished /Opened /Returned section, sometimes you can find them cheap? Sometimes.

Pick me, pick me, Big Bird!

I’m the one who asked for help and MrsDNF offered his services. Will you make a build thread MrsDNF?

I would have been interested in an mt-g2 tk61 but I was put off a little by the melted reflector that I remember seeing somewhere. Now if MrsDNF is able to fit the bigger reflector in the tk61 I want to try an xhp70 J)
