Banggood selling fake Nitecore charger? confirmed by Nitecore's website, if it's working.

It does make you wonder how much fake stuff is out there, probably more than the real stuff.

Maybe this is why people are getting problems lately with these chargers.

Marc.

Mine was ‘invalid’ on first attempt.

Marc.

> It seems that the system only check if the code has been used before.

That would be wrong. You could kill a whole lot of valid numbers by typing them into that system, to destroy the usefulness of the validation code.

Has anyone verified with Nitecore how their verification code works?

Like I said mine failed first time. The problem is a lot people will get comfort from sticker being there but probably not check it.

Marc.

I bought a xtar vc2 charger that doesn't fully charge batteries, and lies about the actual voltage... I actually got on the xtar site and punched in the numbers to verify my charger, and it came up with similar hits, saying the code has been checked on XXXXX and it is invalid. I assumed I was putting the numbers in wrong and let it go, it has the fancy sticker it must be legit right? ....i bought a liitokala charger and the xtar has been sitting in my toolbox unused.

Well, if their database just approves the number the first time someone asks about it, marks it off a list and thereafter reports it as invalid — that means a DDOS attack on the system could easily be automated to punch in all possible numbers, making them all invalid.

Nitecore wouldn’t be that stupid, would they?

Heck, that means if a retailer buys a box of them and checks the number — and finds they’re valid and then sells them — the BUYERS who bother checking will be told they’re invalid.

Does … not … compute …

It makes me want to check all the stuff I have received from them lately.

The funny thing is I bought some Panasonic PFs a few weeks ago and when doing some tailcap readings I noticed they could not keep up with my Sanyo FMs. I dismissed it but will take a closer look now.
Marc.

Cool, that shall be my new signature!

I asked them to look at this topic and comment.
If more people do that, maybe they’ll investigate the problem.

Have had no problem with Banggood.

nisse, have you checked a Nitecore validaation number on one bought from Banggood?

It’s not that everyone has had a problem.

Question is whether problems that do happen are part of a pattern, and how Banggood fixes them.

Banggood buys from wholesalers (or dropships stuff they’ve never even touched).
Like most Chinese sites they really don’t know what they’re selling, until people tell them about it.

You can look this stuff up: banggood fake - Google Search

Is it a fact that validation works and this charger is actually fake?

That’s not a bad idea.

I have a feeling they may not be fakes they just haven’t seen a Nitecore warehouse. The company that makes them makes 1000 units for nitecore. Then after 5.30PM make another 1000 units for a dodgy wholesaler. Some of these are sold to bangtidy. Job done until someone plays the Nitecore scratch card lottery. Nitecore just don’t have them numbers. Who knows.

Marc

Your thread listing is misleading, it makes it sound like you have had confirmation by Nitecore that this charger is Fake, but then I read through the thread and it seems that all you got was an automated response.

To call out BangGood without being 100% positive of this is not wise.
Just because the guys NiMh batteries got hot does not make the charger defective. Maybe the batteries have issues.
Maybe the charger does not like the resistance of the batteries.

The guy who says he had hot batteries did not note voltage readings, just stated the issue with the “code”
Too little solid info at this junction IMHO to call out the dogs.
Thanks,

Keith

My D4 from Banggood is genuine.

SKU141026 NITECORE Digicharger D4 LCD Display Universal Smart Charger Country: EU x1 US$24.99

EDIT:

The second time i tried to validate the same code i got :
“The code has been verified at 25-02-2015 06:02 and it is invalid. Please contact 400 886 9828 for assistance concerning this matter. Thank you.”

So i think there is a problem with Nitecore site/validation logic.

Sounds like a Mickey Mouse “validation” system.

Marcl, you started the thread — so you can edit the title.

Would you change that title? Nobody else can; look for the editing tool in the first post, as you view it.

“Nitecore problem with validation”

or something?

It’s not at all clear exactly who needs to fix what yet.

Hi guys,

All nitecore chargers are genuine, they are from nitecore!

Online validation is a sham. I have several Nitecore chargers from Banggood and CalvinIS. All are genuine.

Title should be “Nitecore validation system is crap”.
