Custom RGBW driver (with some interesting features)

Yes, as written 3 posts above ;)

So we can buy these drivers now? What is the price?

Yes, for a while now. ;)

17mm, Roche F6 or Yupard16340 board. Skilhunt H02 (R) is planned.

PM if interested.

RMM now has XM-L Color Sinkpads .

Too bad he doesn’t have these already flowed on them.

Made a board for the Shilhunt H02/H02R. With this board I had enough space to add another 7135, so I made white run at 1A for more brightness. Now this is much better than the H02C which has only very simple modes.

Since the H02 TIR is actually quite bad at color mixing (that's why the H02C doesn't offer any color mixed modes), I used the H02R and d-c-fix diffuser, much better.

A light emitting to the side and a bike mount like this allow mounting to a bar pointing in any direction (due to the 2 perpendicular swivel axes), very flexible. And of course the magnetic base is very handy. This H02R-RGBW is my favourite RGBW light. One drawback though: Those cool 'light dagger' diffusers (see above, #35) don't fit.

nice Drjones ill have to pick one of these up after all my other on going projects

Jubeldum RMM will reflow that on over for no charge other than the MCPCB, take fifteen cents off if you let him keep the MCPB. Problem solved.

I suspect you meant the neutral white version. Hard to find those little buggers.

Is that it ?

Nice find, last I looked they were on order, AKA out of stock. Sweet.

I ordered these XML RGBW's on Feb 11th here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261674040656. Qty 5 for $36.66 - best deal around, already mounted on alum 20 mm. Got them in yesterday, and look like the real deal - exc. condition, seems to be perfect XML version. Haven't tested them yet though, but all looks exc. Already got some SinkPAD's, so I'll be re-flowing some onto SinkPAD's. Got some IOS drivers from Richard, but will probably get a couple of these drivers from Dr Jones.

Now I'm all confused... Roche F6 sounds like a great setup for one, but I don't have one yet. Hhmm, dunno what to order, or for what target light...

Hi,

i modded a Roche X3 with this driver from DrJones and made a little Video about it. This light really makes a lot of fun :crown:

Greetings

I finally got around building up this driver from parts. Being electronically challenged it so happened that I put the diode the wrong way around. When testing with one led and connecting to a li-ion cell, a spark where I touched the ground with the batt- then nothing. I picked another diode from an old driver and connected it the correct way, but nothing happens. Did I kill something forever?

EDIT: Question withdrawn, got it to work now. At least the white channel switches on and ramps, so I guess the rest will be fine too. Here's the board, sorry for the soddy soldering, I have soldered and removed and resoldered a lot around. Note the 'special  ' chip for the white channel, works!

Whee... more power for white light. (I don't see how you connected the FET...)

In my Skilhunt-H02 version of that driver I used 3*AMC7135 for the white channel to get some more brightness, too.

Looking forward to seeing the complete build :)

Could you explain, I don’t need a huge amount of detail, but how you managed to get all of that out of those pins on the ATTINY85? It’s amazing I would love to build one of these lights in the future!

Well, I don't know if it finally will see the light of day, it will be long and tedious (which is not my cup of tea normally, I like quick builds). The idea is a Solarstorm SC02, DrJones RGBW-driver, Dsche's quad board with colour XP-E2's +dedomed XP-L, quad optics. I think it might just be above my skills. Just now adapted your board for the Solarstorm e-switch. Flipped the switchboard upside down to get the electrical connections on top (will be air-wired) so they don't get in the way, and found one tiny area on the board where I could make a hole (bit smaller than original hole in the Solarstorm board to avoid the small via) and filed the switchboard to shape. This at least should work.

While drilling I struck 7135 deep down there!

The upper lip of the switchboard will sink in a hole in the pill, that should be held in place well enough.

Nice effort djozz. Its good to read about something that the person writing it knows what they are doing.

I know what I have in mind, what I end up doing is hardly something I know beforehand

Ok, I got it almost build, it did work but now it is not actiing normal. All I get on click on is 7 long plus 1 quick red flash, then nothing. A few short clucks changes it to 1 quick red flash then nothing. In this mode 3 quick taps give one green quick flash. Whatever numbrr of clicks get me back to the 7+1 red flashes mode.

Any idea what is going on?

A 3-click is lockout toggle, enable (i.e. light is locked, any operation will just result in a short red flash) is indicated by a short red flash, disable (i.e. normal operation) by a short green flash. A couple of red flashes might be the low battery voltage shutdown signal - but 7 long + 1 quick, that seems strange.

Yes, and the battery is a fully charged VTC5. It started when testing the driver/light engine before final assembly, at first it worked normal, white light worked, white ramping worked, colour cycle worked. Then another try and this started. Can something like this happen by touching something else but the ground ring by the batt-minus while testing? (I may have touched the wrong side of the cap)

By some random clicking I suddenly got red and blue light up simultaniously. Another click and it was gone to never return.
