Review TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5-Modes Memory LED Flashlight (3x18650)

Yep Benckie...3-cells, running in low mode of about 300 lumens and yet able to garner 20% more eff than single XM-L, very long times of a couple of hours, it's difficult to run the cells down unless in a real emergency.

Trust me the LEDs definitely won't die on you. Get 1 more additional driver and tailcap/switch (cheap) and you probably have a light for a good couple of years. Easily till the next Cree new pdts. :D

What’s low mode ? Lol
It’s a keeper I’m glad just about all the parts from the TR-1200 fit (o-rings, bezel, tail cap, glass lense and extention tubes) you could fully rebuild it for $13 usd lol I’m also glad manafont sell the TR-3T6 driver (2 x 18650) for $5.80 as you could keep this torch running for the rest of your life.
That’s what puts me off some high end lights is replacement parts if any or there price for them.

That’s more clear then my post and the long extention tube can be unscrewed into two parts also it’s the same battery tube set up as the TR-1200.
When I first got my TR-1200 I disasembled it added some more grease then put it back to gether when using two 18650’s it was tight as he’ll but three was ok I mixes up the tubes.
I’m going to buy another bare TR-1200 host so I can get some spares for my TR-1200 and TR-3T6 and so I can run my TR-3T6 on 8 x AA nimh for some thing to do lol

And yeah...the UCL 52mm lens fits too, if you want that. LOL! But DX has 52.8mm lens for 2.50.

8AA is cool for a baseball bat!

I was looking at the ucl lense but not sure if it will make a difference I can see

I've received tr-3t6 with 2 cells battery. However, when i compared with my Trustfire X8, the 3t6 beam not as bright as x8. Both units were using fresh fully charged panasonic 2900mah batteries.

I was wondering what is the real maximum current can be drawn by 3t6 driver? let say, if 3Amp currents is being drawn, does it mean that 3A will be split into 3 LED (so 1Amp per LED is received)?

Honestly, I was quite disappointing with this 3t6 output beam, it doesnt perform as what i expected. Anyone has compared with x8 before?

The TR-3T6 is a buck pluss bost so there should be more then 3
amps going to the LEDs wired in series.
The beam should be wider on the TR-3T6 it is a flood light it’s more spread out with small reflectors, more of a wall of light, the x8 is more of a thrower with a concertraited focused beam with a single deeper reflector.
Because of this you can really compare the beams, one will light up a wide area (wall of light) the other will light up a small area and has more throw and will seam brighter because of this.
I’ve tryed to mention a few times its a wall of light not thrower, a good way to test it with the x 8 is take them both bush walking (forest walking).

Harry25175- are you saying you're dissatisfied with the intensity/brightness of TR-3T6's beam? Or, with the difference in it's beam vs. the X8? I'm on the fence as to which of these triples to go with...TF-SR-DRY, etc.

I like the form of the 2 or 3 x 18650 vs. the DRY but am concerned with everyone's stating the Trustfire is visibly dimmer. I just wanted to ensure I understand your comment.

I´ll stick with Benckie. I have both X9 and TR-3T6 and for a walk in the bush the 3T6 is unbeatable (IMHO). A wall of light is a great definition.

Then a C8 Q5 would also be "visibly brighter" than the DRY triple XM-L direct-driven cold white even with UCL lens upgrade. :)

You must see what is the usage. In a walking-the-dog scenario, the DRY would trash a C8 XP-G in illumination that it won't even be funny. If you are trying to illuminate your fridge or something from 1m away, it might even be painful to look at it the DRY. But yes, the hotspot of the C8 Q5 is "visibly brighter" if you are doing a light meter reading, or illuminating something that is 200m away.

i just received a message from an owner of tr-3t6, he is planning to get sst-90 9A driver and install it on tr-3t6. would it be possible??

OMG, are you sure that's the plan?

Should work...

Anything is possible. Getting a 9A Driver in there shouldn't even be that difficult. Will it make the above mushroom cloud... probably....

hahaha.. so i can say that person is trying something useless???

Not really impossible...just a matter of balancing and there still be light though Vf is a bit lower than sst90. I am going to mod my faulty Sr 3800 as i hv many spare drivers. Will work as same form factor. Tf-3t6 driver is too tall unless you bend it. If i have time i will mod the tf-3t6.

Nothing wrong with the 3t6, 1300L OTF and 14-15k

Good heatsinking, no appreciable sag for 5 mins.

well, i am waiting for that person report on modifying with sst-90 driver. once i get the report, i will post it

Mushroom cloud shots! Err...beamshots!

Yes, I get that there are different beams due to reflector configuration, etc.

What I wanted to know is if Harry was dissatisfied with the output of the Trustfire TR-3T6. I'm trying to decide which of the triple xml's to get & read lots of different opinions. Several are happy with their Sky Ray 3800s's, others had failures, one guy keeps beating the Trustfire drum, one really likes his new Sky Ray 818, etc. Plus I now see a F.F. single mode triple on DX.

I know you & others are swapping drivers, going DD, etc. but I'm not there yet. I just want to make the best buying decision, & don't want to buy more than 2 different triples at most.

I'll likely get the new DRY 5A. Which one of the others would you get?

Anyone else & why?
