The BLF worldwide geocache! Let's get the box round the world! BOX EN ROUTE

The BLF worldwide geocache

I’m going to start a ‘geocache’ I’ll post a box with something in (flashlight and non flashlight related?) to a member of BLF, I will create a list (say 30 20 people)

I will post the box to the next person on the list, when they receive it, they take out the thing/things inside and replace them with something of there choice, any value you want, but let’s keep it fair so equal value or more (if someone puts £$€30 worth in don’t put in £$€5 worth of stuff)

I will include a ‘journal’ of where the box has been, when it reaches you, write your name-country-state-town etc. and also what you put in the box, on the ‘journal’

When it reaches the last person on the list, you can post it back to me, I will make a map of where it has travelled and what was inside, if more people are interested we can do a round 2

If you don’t want to send international please don’t put your name on the list!
I think it would be good to ‘zig zag’ between country’s rather than do each country in 1 go, it will be interesting to see the route it took and how many miles its travelled!

Add to the character and appearance of the box if you like (stickers, pins, drawings etc.)

Post on the thread if you like to update us on where the box is (pictures etc)
Take pictures of it next to landmarks/places wherever you want!

Post ‘I’m in’ on this thread and I will put you on the list in that order until we hit 20

Let me know if you want to be removed from the list

When you send the box it is up to you what postage method you use, but tracked is a good idea, we don’t want a lost box and you don’t want to be blamed for a lost box either

Definitly in if that s ok.

Just throwing my 2 cents, since you are in the UK in the spirit of making things cheaper and faster perhaps it could first be a interested UK members tour then continental europe then another continent etc.. ?

I’m in, although I hope the box won’t be all that big, to save on postage costs! Smile

Would everyone prefer JamesB idea? UK then Europe onto Other continent etc.? I don’t mind posting straight to anywhere!
Ps the box is the typical green plastic small flashlight one roughly 13×8×3cm

Any way to post a pin map in the op to illuminate the path? Count me in!

Three Tanna leaves to give him life, nine to give him movement. But what if he eats the whole bag?

I’ve been thinking about the best way to do this and I think we should go in order of the list? It will be too hard to organise in order of country especially as people join the list, postage shouldn’t be that expensive between country’s (I send out of the UK a lot) so if everyone agrees I’ll start jotting down the order of the list now?

Ok the OP is updated, I’ll send to JamesB in place of DBSAR first (to save going to Canada back to France)
If you don’t want to send international please don’t put your name on the list! Thanks James

In order not to lose the box, it must be posted with tracking, so everyone can see where it’s going. It will be interesting also to compare shipping times.

Tracking can be expensive (£8.80) for a small package from
UK to USA so i don’t know weather or not to ask people to do that? Opinions?

Nothing then prevents someone from taking the box and claiming he sent it…

Ok if everyone agrees we can go for tracked delivery? I don’t want to make all the decisions but it does seem like the best bet?

If you don’t mind another Canadian on the list, I think this would be a fun idea!

Also maybe for each member who has it, take a photo of the Geocache with their collection of lights or favorite light and post it here during its journey.
I’m assuming this will have its own logging page on Geocaching.com with its own cache number? ( GCxxxxxx)

Might it be a “lightbox” (integrating sphere) with built in light meter?
I’m not familiar with measurement systems, so I have not idea if it can exist in small sizes.
So it would add some BLF reference in measurements.
Off course if this can be combined.

I’d also like to see a picture of the cache taken outside so we can see the each area it visits. “And here is the cache with me at my favorite cafe in downtown London.” Silly

I wasn’t going to, seeing how it’s a twisted version of geocaching, but you are very welcome to create a logging page for it if you wish!

Can’t say due to the weight, it depends what people are putting inside!

I really hope i will have westerners as recipient, they will appreciate it more

compared to locals.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B00433ICSC/ref=mw_dp_cr

And they really are expensive there LOL

i remember one geocache that uses a camera to roam, that would be

a nice addition.

A gps tracker would be a good idea, but I don’t know how to get hold of a cheap one

But I don’t think that bag would fit in the box!
