Richard, I want to be the first to buy one, when you make it. Donāt forget to de-dome!
Yeah. I'm planning on sticking it in a TK61, dedomed, at 5A. Maximum beam width at 100 yards is approximately 10 cm diameter.
Sounds perfect for the Uniquefire 1504/1405ā¦.
10cm at 100yds!!!
LOL
Nice coiled tape of tiny little emitters. Purdy cool!
Now, do I start testing or start shipping?
The things Iām most interested in are the Vf and how much the tint shifts with a dedome
Hey Dale, sent me a couple of them and The Sphere āo Many Mysteries can measure thatā¦
Shipping with right hand and testing with the left one?
Really be cool to see the stats that you can measure.
Iāve got a lot of these to spread around people, speak up, donāt make me eat Ramxpe noodle soup!
$1.72 apiece, thatās the price I got em for by buying 50. A couple of folks have spoken up but yāall need to clean me out on these.
Yep, Iām definitely in for 2. (yes, I know, only 2)
I have 4 in the gas.
Weāll see.
Looking forward to the results!
Did you do any preliminary testing on color and tint?
What were these binned?
Gas? Blasphemy.
Correct me if Iām wrong. I just looked at the Cree Product Characterization tool a little while ago. It has specs for the various emitters and there are three columns so that you can compare multiple emitters to each other directly. I chose: XP-G2, XP-E2, and XP-E2 Torch to compare. I see that the XP-E2 Torch is rated for higher amperage than XP-E2. But, other than that, the performance is not as good as the XP-E2, and not even close to XP-G2 when you measure in lumens-per-watt. The XP-E2 Torch also has a significantly higher Vf than either of the others. Really, what is the draw here? :~
Edit: I should say, total lumens output is higher than XP-E2 because of the higher Vf and being rated for higher amperage. But, really, is the XP-E2 that much smaller than XP-G2? Because, the lumens-per-square-mm would be the only advantage I can think of that this thing might have.
OMG! These things are TINY!
About an hour in the gas, I pulled em out and dome was sitting top but easily lifted right off. About to mount em on 10mm SinkPADāsā¦.
Maybe a touch early on the de-gasing?
Looks to me like you lost a bit of corner phosphor on each dome, not enough to notice in a reflector light but maybe visible in an aspheric.
I thought you weren't using gas anymore.
The bond wires are on the corners, not missing any phosphor.
I was referring to these little patches of yellow stuck to the domes. Seems itās a bit of phosphor coming loose from around the bond wires maybe?
