Another e-cig explodes, embeds itself into ceiling, sets bed on fire.

Man Injured, Bed Catches Fire After E-Cigarette Explodes

Wish they gave more info in these reports. What charger, battery was used.

The 2nd shows what looks to be an LG HE4, at least he wasn't vaping with an ****Fire

I see two cells in the picture, the one that blew appears to have a red wrapper.

I don’t know much at all about e-cig rigs; are they still just a single-cell affair, or are they using more than one in series now??

Wonder if the ’sploded battery is a Sanyo laptop pull (the red wrapper), looks like a mechanical and RBA rig, you can’t push a Sanyo at current levels like you can with that gold battery

Correction - not a dripper, you can clearly see the glass tank on the rig
Need more information…what mod he was using, what resistance he is vaping at, and what that red battery is…

I’ve never seen anyone get hurt from analog cigarettes…
Oh wait

arstechnica - Cigarettes: A product that kills two out of three of its users
Show me a hundred e-cig explosions and I would still switch to vaping (if I smoked).

I have seen many times when the vapers do not and will not use protected batteries.

oh gawd my sides

Ecigs have been using stacked cells for years now. Was pretty big before the whole vv/vw mods became more mainstream.

I doubt that one was stacked though.

Could have been many reasons it vented. Could have been pushing a cell too hard, could have had the button jammed or stuck on and the heat eventually lead to thermal runaway, could have been an extruding button and been dropped on the button and punctured a hole in the cell and caused a reaction.

Didn't read the article so don't know what information they gave on the situation. Not interested in reading scare tactics that's probably ultimately aimed at banning e cigs

PS: I am laying in bed vaping some tasty blue moo juice at about 0.2 ohms in a RDA with an 18650 right now.

I don’t, but I also use the kick in my mechanicals and APV’s which have the overcurrent protection built in (VAMO and MVP2)

I posted on the link from the OP…got this back

none of the pics are good enough to tell much about the red wrapper.
could have been a sanyo but more likely a whateverfire or gtl.

If this is a different shot of the device in question

A. it IS a trustfire that exploded (see the writing in white on the ripped up label) [or a fake wrap on a crap battery]
B. it IS a sub-ohm tank (I mentioned the make above)
C. the other battery IS a Sanyo laptop pull (different from the Gold one shown before)

Common sense should rule…not regulation…uggh

uh oh…Marlboro is making eco-friendly cigarettes now

If the Marlboro executives want to show how friendly they are, I would suggest they shoot themselves  turn themselves in for negligent homicide for insisting smoking did no harm when they knew it kills.

click the linky

I searched for the gif thinking that she was cutting an onion.

There was a teaser news blurb on the TV last night about a local guy suing over an ecig that exploded in his pants pocket (apparently fried his ’nads?). I didn’t watch the news to see what it was all about…

Unless it was from a big company like Blu he is going to find it hard to catch anyone to sue.
