It's still a very bright flashlight.

You welcome. And I wanted to say that this light really did fool me when I first got it. I thought from looking at the picture enclosed with the ad on ebay that it was a thrower. And that it was and then some. I can't honestly say that it will for sure out throw the Skyline I, but I can say at 400yds that it lights that barn above in the picture a lot better than the Skyline I does. That right there is why I made that statement above, but I don't want to be misleading so I will restate this here. That light is one of my best throwers I do know that.

This was the picture in the ad from the seller that made me buy this light. It's not deceiving.

I personally will highly recommend that light to anyone. I love it!

. However mine is XML. I can tell you this thing is brighter than my ebay X9. It pulls around 2A vs 1.2A from the X9 on the same trustfire flame battery.

I notice you have a really nice collection of lights. May I suggest a DMM ? It'll help you understand your hobby more and keep you safe.

Thanks for the info Tim. I now know another light I must get. And I do have a good digital multimeter coming. Chicago on here is going to help to teach me how to use it. I think I already know how to take a tail cap reading. But I sure do thank the guys from this site who have taken the time and help the guys that don't know much like me.

No I don't. But I have seen some videos of them I think.

I received mine today. It came with a tailcap edge badly abraded due to inadequate packaging. Waiting for reply from seller.

The light pulls 1.6 to 1.8A, depending on battery. That's a lot for a Q5. But does it throw! The hotspot is wider and at the same time brighter than the hotspot from my mighty HS-802 R2 pulling 1.4A. (EDIT: not true, see my next post). What I'm uncertain about at the moment, is the beam pattern. The transition between hotspot edge and spill is very abrupt, resembling an aspheric (end of tunnel, no context view). With the HS-802 the hotspot proper is real tiny, but there is some usefully bright corona arond it, which widens the view and smoothens the transition to the spill. Hard to predict which one I will prefer after some use. Anyway, they achieved some superb focusing with the UltraOK, that's for shure.

The UltraOK is a MRV clone too, but not identical to the TrustFire F15. The latter is somewhat longer, has slightly thicker walls and is thus heavier. The collar on the F15 seems to be stainless steel, while on the UktraOK it's gold-anodized aluminium. No problem - better heat dissipation, actually.

Planning to do a lux comparison shortly.

Well, here are my comparative readings that I did last night, using the (replaced) Victor 1010A luxmeter set to Max, screened from reflections, distance 8.0m.


UltraOK XR-E Q5 (Soshine 2800, 1.75A):
Luminous intensity I=42.7 kcd, Throw d=413m (for Eo=0.25 lux)


UniqueFire HS-802 XR-E R2 (Soshine 2800, 1.45A):
I=55.0 kcd, d=469m


TrustFire X9 XM-L T6 (Panasonic 2900, 1.80A - eBay):
I=34.9 kcd, d=374m

It appears that the larger hotspot of the UltraOK tricked my eyes previously. It isn't brighter than the HS-802 hotspot, but hey, it's almost 4 times the 802 hotspot area (about 2x the diameter)! Taking this into account, the loss in throw distance is a small price, IMO.

Just for fun I later measured with the same setup:

Well I have bought some batteries from Buyincoins and he is a very good seller. I would just buy that light. You will be happy.

That one is specified at 450-600mA.

My UltraOK pulls 1.6-1.8A to perform as it does.

I have that poor 10 $ c8 Q5 from ebay. And in some post i wrote it can throw over 400 metars and samo members didn't belived me...

I can also sugest that 10$ c8 if you want great throw and you want regreth buying one:D I dont have multimetar to check current,but if i get one Ill post resoults.

True, and that current also isn't in accordance with the specified 1.5 hours runtime...

You win gorann, it's plastic indeed and I didn't notice that until you raised the question. It does a good job at focusing, though Wink

So, the high current that my sample draws won't overstress just the LED but the reflector as well. Good that it is a thrower and I don't need to have it on for more than 15-20 sec most of the times.
