Match warned me

Interesting, I have never had an alkaline battery leak in my life. I have been using LSD for the past 3 years or so.

Not good! Thanks for the tip, this made me check the out-of-the-box Duracell in my Logitech mouse.

Duracells damaged these AA adapters. The batteries were well within the expiration date.

You guys that have Duracell batteries that have leaked or destroyed devices or lights need to take pictures of the batteries and the item it damged and send it to Duracell. My hunch is they need to be made aware of it and want to be made aware of it. And I believe they will make things right with you.

I won't leave alkalines in anything of value for long. I may use them in some lights to run them down, but I check them quite often.

I have had several things ruined or almost ruined from them. If one leaks and ruins something, save the batteries, take some pics, and contact the manufacturer. They will often reimburse you.

I've had lots of stuff get destroyed by leaving alkalines in items that aren't often used. However, I have never had a clock or remote leak when using alkies. So that's about all I use for them.

I recently had a incan Maglite trashed by Rayovac alkalines. They were less than a year old and brand new when I loaded the Mag.

So if you use LSD, "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" for the past 3 years or so, how do you know that your alkaline batteries don't leak, you might just be trippin'. You know, a case of "drain bramage" 8-)

I don't think that switching to a wireless mouse would be of great benefit since I already lost 2 rather new Mini Mag-Lites and one that I've had for years, and saw evidence of battery jacket failure in my digital camera as well in the last 2 months.

What frustrates me the most is that I've lost lot's of electronic gear over the years and chalked it up to my fault, leaving alkaline batteries in place too long. It wasn't until the last couple of years that I started buying alkaline's in larger packages to have time to see failures while still working from the same lot#'s.

I'm doing my best to move away from alkaline's from now on, be it rechargeable AA's or products that might use lithium's instead.

Never ending story!

I gave a friend a fenix e21 and 2 brand new duracels. One leaked and has ruined the switch. Only in the light for 2 months.

You know I very seldom ever have any problems with Duracell alkaline batteries. And really the same can be said for other good alkaline batteries.

My experience with them is that if they were left in devices that are not used for a very long time they will most likely leak. My analog MM, childrens' toys, old plastic flashlights, etc etc. Not used, stored, leaked.

I was going through the kids' toys today (recovering 'loops to re-purpose for whatever Santa brings) and had two leaking AA alkalines (in two different toys). One was a cheap OEM Chinese cell and one was a Duracell Ultra. No damage to the toys, but it just goes to show that they all leak.

Duracell has a warranty - they will reimburse you for devices damaged by their cells.

There is a reason they call these Alka-leaks !

I have seen plenty of leaking Duracells in maglites and cameras, but none of the cheap Zinc-manganese alkalines sold through Aldi discounter has leaked on me yet. Last year I found my old digital camera (with Aldi rebadged AA alkalines) in my brother's garage again where I forgot it in ... 2007, I think. The cells were deader than dead, but none had leaked. I still have about thirty AA alkalines left over from my days before I stocked up on LSD NiMH, and they're still fine; stored at room temperature in my bedroom wardrobe (in a sealed surplus 20mmx139 autocannon ammo box, aired once a week)

I wouldn't store anything valuable with batteries of any kind inserted; not even CR123A primaries (despite Surefire's recommendation to "leave it (note: 6P with batteries inserted) in a drawer for months").

I saw a bunch of clearance torches for sale at a local farm supply store, and ALL of the AAs in the packages had disgorged their contents.

Pre-leaked for your convenience.

Hey Guys,

I just found some more of these batteries in a pouch in a camera case. They're all brand new, un-used, never installed into anything yet....

I was lucky that I used some of these in my wireless mouse, system software alerted me to a low battery condition. Those batteries were only about 10 days old.

Based on the condition they were in, I removed them in everything that I could remember them used in.

Just too late for 3 of my AA mini maglites 8-(

Live and learn.

Guys, seriously - if all alkalines leaked like crazy, like that - you think they'd still be on the market?

I smell cheap fakes here.... unless they haven't been stored in a pond somewhere.

I think they are chinese duracel's
