So I put a Dr. Jones RGBW driver with XML colour led into a skilhunt h02, turned out great, lots of pics below

Driver modes:

Colour cycle
cycles forward through the chromatic circle (red>yellow>green>cyan>blue>purple>red>…

White - ramping up and down

Simple modes and blinkies
red — green — blue — EU yellow warning strobe — EU blue emergency vehicle strobe — US red/blue police strobe — wild color strobe. T switches off.

Full RGBW mode
This mode lets you change every die’s brightness individually, so you can mix every possible colour.

Lockout

Battery level indicator
This mode also has 2 sub-modes, one displays the voltage simply as a color: 4.5V-white, 4.0V-blue, 3.5V-green, 3.0V-red, intermediate colors for intermediate voltages. The other mode indicates the voltage by blinking; red for whole volts, green for tenths, blue for hundredths, e.g. 3*red, 6*green, 2*blue means 3.62V.
All of the above modes have their own memory, they’ll start with the settings used last time

Measure cell capacity
This driver can measure the cell’s capacity (in Ah) and stored energy (in Wh) with a load of 700mA down to 2.9V. Insert a full cell, activate this mode. It will then run for a few hours till the cell is drained and go into sleep mode. Press the button and it will tell the capacity and energy in blinks like the battery indicator above, i.e. a short white pre-blink to indicate capacity readout, 2*red, 5*green, 1*blue -> 2.51 Ah (= 2510 mAh), then a green pre-blink to indicate energy, then 8*red, 4*green, 7*blue -> 8.47 Wh. Can be repated by another tap. Exit this mode by changing the battery.

Measure internal resistance (including contact resistances
This mode allows to measure the internal resistance of the cell, but including the contact resistances. It will light up for ~10s, pause, and then show the resistance by some blinks in mOhm, e.g. 1*red, 7*green, 2*blue -> 172 mOhm. The measurement is repeated over and over.

Nice mod James. I dont know where you put all the wires? It looks like you have a light for all party occasions now.

Made them really short :stuck_out_tongue: I think it’s my new favourite all purpose light, especially because it comes with a pocket clip and a good quality headband! But So many modes to learn!

Nice, I especially like the measurements it can take from the battery to show voltage etc :slight_smile:

If you can do this, why can’t more manufacturers add small tri colour led to most torch somewhere to give a rough idea of the voltage of the battery at any given time

I didn’t design the driver, credit goes to Dr. Jones, I just wired it up in the light, but I suppose it’s just money, for the driver and colour led it’s about £21 plus the light on top of that

Great mod! I myself have a few Skilhunt H02s (mix of old version and new version with the rectangular front plate)…

Even though I have more flashlights, I use headlamps most of the time. The other headlamps that I have are those from Armytek.

Since I like the UI of Armytek (& Olight), the mods i did to H02s are to install Nanjg105 with the custom firmwares.

Great to work with the host, internal compartment is easily accessible etc… good host for mod…(I wish the light is available at cheaper price though).

I do like the Skilhunt but it is expensive considering it is not one of the big manufacturers like armytek or olight, this mod is perfect, especially the ramping on the White, and no need to worry about the beam with the xml colour, because of the TIR optic, works well.
I use it for work using the pocket clip attatched to my vest, the colour and flashing modes mostly and white for close up.
One of my new favourites!

The TIR optic is great, isn’t it? Using headlamp while doing close up work, hot spot is no no for me. TIR helps to disperse the light evenly, and in multicolor emitter setup, it plays additional but important role of mixing the color as well.

With coupon, from BG, this light is almost half price of armytek pro. Yes, considering it is not from established brand, the price still feels slightly expensive, but I cant find
any other cheaper light which is worthy alternative to the armytek headlamp (TIR, Top ESwitch — dont like side ESwitch of Zebralight, tubular host — not T shape of Crelant headlamp which is not pocketable)…

And, I like how the ESwitch is not integral part of the driver, so stock driver can be swapped with the versatile Nanjg driver, without having to build custom one (eg: Roche F6).

Well, there's the H02C now, but it has only simple modes, no color mixing at all. Actually the TIR is not really good at color mixing.

I meanwhile made a custom RGBW driver for the H02/H02R/H02C, it has an additional 7135 for the white die (so 1A) for more brightness. and I used the H02R with d-c-fix diffuser - much better color mixing. That host (side emitting, magnetic base) makes a very versatile RGBW light.

I think Skilhunt had great potential with the H02C, but they’ve just not got there with it, could have added so many more features.
Such a great host though

I don’t know why but I prefer the TIR over d-c-fix over glass!

Very nice mod! That is a great light :-)

I still have this driver unassembled, and a colour XM-L, waiting for a good host. When I have the host, the time and the spirit to do the work I will post my mod with it.

(Just now saw this thread. There are many interesting posts that I miss nowadays. If not many people respond they just disappear.)

There seemed to be a problem with these stock drivers with bits falling off when the light was dropped (even from about 1ft) this is still one of my favourite lights due to the array of things it can do
Yes A lot of threads go un-noticed!
