Great throw, well done. To get 1350kcd throw with a 80mm lens you have done everything well: quality led, quality lens and very good performing collar. I'm as well curious about how you made the collar (or was it bought as is?)
Djozz if you havenât checked out Linus thread gaston01 mentions in the OP you should. Lots of very interesting discussions about collars & various ways to optimize an aspheric build
Yes in darkness the PVC give some usable spills but to walk, I open the zoom and is converted to very good flood, Iâll take some pictures of it and upload âŠ.and a mid-zoom shooting a stream of impressive light!
The led are from Fasttech Xpg2 R5 1A on Aluminum star then I reflow on sinkpad, the lens are 78mm from Kaidomain I buy 2, one goes good the other not
As I said, the secret is in the focus on collar height, the thickness of aluminium coke can may mean 1100 or 1200 KCDS âŠ.
I'm a bit on a flashaholic ration at the moment (my girlfriend is getting annoyed lately about the time I spend hobbying and she is right), but at least reading BLF is not as disruptive for family life as hands-on testing/modding in my hobby-corner.
Can you explain to me why the collar is as large as it is? Couldnât it be just slightly larger than the LED? The distance from reflector to LED is the same as the distance back to the LED so the aim should be the same even though a smaller reflectorâs angles would be wider. It also seems a larger reflective surface would need to be more precisely smoothed and positioned.
OMG, Gaston! That is simply amazing! I had to read the throw figures 3 times before I was sure I was seeing one MILLION three hundred and fifty THOUSAND candela. Good lord! What a fantastic job! You didn't just build your own Deft X, you smashed it into the ground and doubled it's throw. Mighty impressive work.
Santo cielos! Es un lĂĄser de color blanco. Del dicho al hecho hay muuucho trecho! pero no lograste, huevĂłn lo superaste! Ya el foco tuyo es el cima. Quedo buenĂsimo.
Nice work, and very impressive figures youâre seeing.
I would like to see verification of those figures measured at greater than 6meters though.
Call me skeptical but I consistently see artificially higher candela figures when taking measurements below 10 meters. The beam isnât really formed yet at that range (provided the focus is set for maximum throw) so Iâd be really interested in seeing what kind of difference in throw (if any) you get when measuring at longer ranges i.e >50meters.
Oh and if youâre not happy with the look of that plumbing pipe, have you thought about finding and combining some cheap lens hoods/filter rings on ebay that will fit that 78mm lens? Itâs a good size lens for that kind of approach!
Keep up the great work
Thank you all for the comments, make me very happy , and encourages me to share with you my same passion, I regret not having done it beforeâŠ.
Hi
Sorry I can not explain how it really works this necklace is that it is very complex and is beyond my knowledgeâŠ
When came this technology, also ask to try to see how it works but got no specific answers so I decided to buy it and experiment with the.
Yes! in the city, I get light to the naked eye, some water tanks very high towers located 1.5 km according to google earth, Iâll try to take pictures of it
Buen español! muchas gracias
Hi
I too would like to compare values with some of you but we are far unfortunatelyâŠremember that the head is moving and lets you focus at the desired distance, inside my house fully measured from 3 to 9 mts mts focusing on die each measure correctly and I had no variation to convert values to 1 mts, instead on my mods flashlights with reflector always find variations measured at different distances above, not very big but variations at the endâŠ.
Measurements at close range really hurts sight watching the die, the light spot is in my eyes for a few minutes :~
Also, I will try to make measurements tens of meters, when given the opportunity
