Zebralight SC5 and SC5w

it is throwier than SC52 because of 500lm is throwier than 280lm

Runtimes not specified…But sure looks like a damn winner! I hope its floody enough though!

EDIT: Not worth an upgrade for someone already using a SC52 with a lion cell. It absolutely brings nothing to the game besides eneloop with 500 lumens which other manufacturers have already done.

This is a good point. I have become pretty used to running my SC52w on Li-Ion. And besides the 500 lumen burst, I REALLY like the way that I can easily charge my battery wherever I am from a variety of power sources. NiMH just doesn’t seem to charge well from anything but a large 120VAC home charger. Portable solar panels? FORGET IT!

The retail on the sc5 was supposed to be a fair it lower, wasn’t this the budget zebra we were promised more than a year ago?

Looks like the price went up but so did the specs.

It needs Eneloop PRO. Not sure if a regular eneloop will do….

Sorry guys but seriously WTF?? WTF I mean I just put up a comparison. Data taken from ZL website…Take out the 3 minutes turbo on Eneloop PRO (which can be had on a 14500 anyways) why are some people here and on the other forum talking like its a mega game changer. I get it if you people want to rationalise the purchase of such a unit, but seriously….Blah for me…

that is interesting - I figured the 500 lumen was a gimmick to wow everyone

I dont have a sc52w - I still might try this one out… it can probably be had for around $45ish from andrew amanda or IS with a code

I've had 2 sc52's. Nice lights. Just was unlucky and had two Green :Sp Tinted ones. On the second purchased one, the vendor tried it out before he shipped it and said it was not green tint...NOT ...never went back. Would like to have a decent tinted one. Not green or yellow.

Maybe some day.... :(

yeah - i got unlucky with a lot of my past ZLs - but finally got a good one with my sc62w

kind of scared to push my luck

jmpaul20 I have a H52W. That thing is amazing… Definetely worth it! If you don’t have one though, A SC5 is not a bad buy but if you can get a SC52/H52W on a bargain, go for it! The W is the one to get.

I like what they did with the moon modes on the new SC5. I’ve been wanting a 1lm mode between low and moon for a long time, and the extra runtime is welcome too. It would be even better than the SC52 for “night light” purposes, all night every night on moon. However, the new one is bigger and still has the same interface flaws. Mostly, it’s a pain to switch between different sub-levels like 0.28 lm and 1.0 lm. I’ve bugged them multiple times about ways to make this dramatically easier, but they don’t seem to like the ideas.

Anyway, I think I’ll pass. I like my two SC52s and H52Fw and H51w, but I don’t really need another.

The older Zebralights tended to have tint problems. But the more recent lights are MUCH better in this regard. My SC52w L2, SC62w, and H600Fw are all MUCH better than the SC52w I used to have.

I think they may have changed the glass on the newer models to get rid of the green tint it was causing. Or maybe they’re just using tints closer to the red end of the black body line.

Here is the tint difference the AR coating can make: (on the left is an Olight lens, right is a plain piece of glass)

I’m not sure what I’m reading on the specs for burst runtime.

Is the “remaining battery power” 10-20% after step-down (from burst)? The wording sounds as though the 3 minute burst uses 80-90% of the battery capacity. Can I get a wordsmith or amp wizard to weigh in?

Does anyone have one yet?

Some people on CPF have received them.

Mine’s still in the mail. I should get it Monday.

The king rightfully reclaimed the throne from Thrunite!
Ordered!

Any updates on these? I like the idea of the Zebralights, but have not had the monies to get one…

The tint and beam are simply outstanding.

It uses Eneloops instead of lithium ion and puts out an amazing 500 lumens on turbo.

The size is slightly larger than the SC52s.

It’s my favorite ZebraLight.

Hey gang,
Going to look into this sc5w or a SC52w for my brother. I have the sc52w that I LOVE.
Any thoughts on cold weather operation vs the Li-ion?
Also, I am familiar with Andrew Amanda, but what is “IS?”
Thanks
