A23 rechargable equivalent

I need a rechargable battery that will replace a23's. My grandfather needs them for the remotes to his house lights, they don't last more than a couple weeks and he has 4 remotes So its getting more costly than they're worth.

Im not sure if this is possible but have you tried modding
4 cr2032 or thinner batteries with it? How much does
1 a23 cost anyway? Maybe we have deals here.

They're about 2.50 a piece. Really skinny really short tube batterys that put out 12v. AAA size diameter but 1/3 the Length. the 2032 would be way too big diameter. The remotes use 2 of them in parallel.

Well, there is a lithium cell for 1/3AAA size, but it’s only the normal voltage (3.7V nominal, 4.2V max charge) What you have is a stack of 4X 3V button cells inside an outer wrapper. I don’t know of any way to replace that with any other cell. You may be able to do as has been suggested already: buy individual cells and stack them yourself. If you can get a great price on 50 or 100 of the button cells in bulk, then just wrap them yourself in either shrink wrap or just plain sellotape, that would probably be the cheapest you could get out.

Would be hard due to voltage difference. If an
Alkaline a23 will require 8 button cells in series, a
Rechargeable variant will require 9 cells or more to
Maintain 12v. Couple that with low demand and chances
Will get lower

Every time I walk by a rack of cells in any store I curse the engineers that design products around bizarre or seldom used sizes.
“Hey Fred, boss wants a new product. Go down to Radio Shack, find the oddest size on the wall and we’ll work around that”.

If at all possible I never buy any product that does not use a fairly standard cell size. IMO there really is no need at all for that BS other than proprietary electronics, often poorly designed ones. Boycott that crap out of existence. Check before you buy. If the ads won’t tell you up front, you don’t want it.

Have you checked the Current draw when the remotes were idle? 2 weeks doesn’t sound right. Or this is very old tech.

I’ve got an Adesso Model WKB-3000UB keyboard for using via a USB dongle to control a PC feeding the TV. It sucks 4xAA Eneloops dry in 2 weeks just sitting. Works well but the electric efficiency is bottom drawer. This kind of thing is about impossible to find out beforehand without groups like this, if you can find them, and if you can ask the appropriate questions.

I don't know when then fans and lights were installed but the trailer was built in the 70's, even has a tape player built into the wall Under the kitchen cabinet. Was pretty high end high tech back in the day I guess.
