Thorfire TG06 AA or 14500

wonderr how this compares to the tg05

I spoke to them about the UI. At first I didn’t like the UI but after using it I started to like it for around the house use and EDC carry its more of a moonlight mode. Forgot to mention has a OP reflector.

Yes it tail stands. I actually have it tail standing right now

Also the clicky glows. I didn’t think the price was so bad compared to the prices I’m used to paying for some AA flashlights.

Compared to the TG05 it can take a 14500 - 1.2…4.2 V

Also newly available at Banggood, better price with discount code BLF?!

that is my thought too, i will have to compare them
when the tg06 comes in this weekend.

I haven’t tried the TG05 it looks good I’m just not a fan of all those modes. I prefer a more simple UI. 5 modes is just annoying thats just my personal preference though. The TG06 also takes the 14500

A good multi mode AA clicky with no strobe? Just what I like. Add an angled head and I’d buy a handful.

That’s right.
It is a nice fashion light, it reminds me another (old) AA flashlight, maybe a Fenix. Pretty cool with a XP-G2.

For ASLopez: how it throw ? It’s possible know the runtime with a Nihm? Thank you very much.

Just got my tg06 and this is a really nice light. Modes are nice, goes from low to high and then to med.

Glad you like it. Its a really good light in my opinion. pretty bright with the 14500. Haven’t stopped carrying it since I got it.

It is skinner than the tg05, I like that a lot.

It is pretty thin compared to most AA lights I own or have seen. Only things I would have changed is adding a momentary on and a smooth reflector has pretty good throw as it is though.

Well thanks to your mini review here, I picked one of these up. Seems to be a good solid AA light. Thank you for your review and I am running a 14500 in mine which makes a world of difference. It may replace my MicroStream with the 10440 battery as my primary work light due to the longer run time of the Thorfire TG06. I actually like the UI, but there is a tiny bit of PWM strobe on mine on the Moonlight setting, not a big enough deal to worry about for this price. This would be a bargain at $10, but it is a solid light for $16.

$11.99 is the best price i have atm…
look in my deals thread;)

$11.99 works for me!

SOLD

M4D M4X,

Thanks for the code and heads up, I did not see that. I do not feel bad about it at $16, but I will be picking up more at $12. Solid little lights like these are why I joined BLF. This is a great forum…. Thanks again.

Got my TG06 today from Banggood. Compared it with the TG05 that I already own (Review: Thorfire TG05 XP-G2 R5) and found these differences (to my taste):
Pros:

- cheaper

- will take 14500

- nice clip, can be reversed

- anti roll design

- a little bit smaller but not much (shorter+diameter)

- anodized threads

- no blinkies

- GITD ring behind the lens
Cons:

- even colder, bluish tint (compared to the cold white of the TG05)

- has to be driven by a 14500 to reach the same brightness as the TG05 with AA/Eneloop

- always starts with moonlight ( a little bit annoying compared to the mode memory of the TG05)

- no holster and wrist strap (both came with the TG05)

  • lubing was a little bit overdone (some grease on the outside, not that much of a deal)

Other features are almost identical (XP-G2 R5, knurling, both tailstand, high quality+finish, OP reflector and beam).
Both are “out of the box” very nice and usable lights with no need to modify, which can be a good thing.

I got mine as well. Very nice looking light.. especially considering its price.

But!

The PWM is the worst I have ever had in my whole flashlight collection.. and the led is purplish blue. If you can live with that.. buy it.. if not, mod it....or don't buy it..

Why do good quality budget brands make L-H-M (Thorfire) or M-L-H (Xeno) UIs is out of my comprehension.

WHY can’t they just make a L-M-H like the premium brands? It would not cost more.

Other than that, I like a lot the fact it always start at the lowest setting, I understand some may prefer mode memory but all in all that preserves unwanted high output in the wrong situations and MED / HIGH are just a double / triple click shortcut away from OFF.
