New: Noctigon Meteor M43 ; in production New color added: Tan

Yep that is so, the answer should be, it is a commercial name for a light grey, the light it is clearly not white in the true sense of the word, stone also kind of denotes that the white is not white. All photos I have seen so far clearly show light grey not what is considered white.

To me that looks more like what I’ve often heard called “natural” anodized. I have a couple of lights with that finish and its not really white, but rather light grey.

Here’s an example: http://www.laymanslights.venturous.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Sunwayman-M11R-1.jpg

A few size comparisons:

M6 vs. M43

MM15 vs. M43

All Three Side-by-Side. The M43 is very short!

I weighed them all on the same scale, without batteries (batteries will add the same amount of weight in all three, since they all take 4x18650):

  • M6: 15.4 oz; 437 grams
  • MM15: 12.1 oz; 343 grams
  • M43: 12.9 oz; 366 grams
Of note, the MM15 is a bit lighter, but it doesn't have nearly as much copper inside.
The illuminated button. It indicates the battery charge depending on the color. It can be set to be constant on, beacon (flashes intermittently), or can be turned off. This one is much less annoying than the MM15 beacon, which I feel is far too bright.
A few more colors:

The moonlight level is pretty low, considering you are powering 12 emitters. The switch light is always on when the light is turned on, and shows the charge level, as well as indicating mode changes and thermal regulation.
The machining and anodization are first-class, and very consistent throughout the light.
Did I mention that the square cut threads and anodization are first-class?

The tailcap has a nice laser-etched logo. I like that the rest of the light is clean.
Yes, even the spring holder is a copper MCPCB. The screw holes are countersunk.
The other side of that tailcap MCPCB. Here you can see the Beryllium-copper low-resistance springs.
Here is the battery contact side of the driver. The contact surface is thick and shouldn't wear quickly. I didn't take this one apart, since it's my only sample and it is going to be sent to several others for review. There are some pictures of the driver available earlier in this thread.

Here you can see the AR coating's reflection. I can't see any color cast in the LED output, and under most viewing conditions the glass is virtually transparent.
The light thermally regulates and keeps the maximum temperature around 50C on turbo.

This is definitely not a budget light; instead, it is a premium light that is going to duke it out with the best and most expensive the industry has to offer.

Great pictures, thanks Rich

I love the look of the knurling, I just wish it was within my budget.

pilotdog68, if you use PayPal Credit you get 6 months zero interest. Entry level on this light means you could make 4 monthly payments of $40 (a measely $10 a week) and own the thing outright without ever incurring interest.

Just sayin…

I can’t do it….

I have still never bought a light over $30, this would be too big of a jump.

BLFTi… Meteor… BLFTi… Meteor… BLFTi… Meteor… BLFTi… Meteor… BLFTi… Meteor… BLFTi… Meteor……………

Amazing restraint! Most likely not a Flashaholic

Unknown, Sinner will tell you the easy answer there is buy em both.

The knurling looks exceptional on this light, I wish they were all like this. I love small lights that think big, seeming very much like I’m going to LOVE this light!

Edit: pd68, it’s not A light, it’s 4 triples at just over $30 each. Think of it as 4 triples at $30 plus a little extra for the holster and fine packaging.

Well when you put it that way I guess I’ll have to order one. I really wish they were dedomed V6 3C XP-L’s though. If they were I would have already ordered one.

My thoughts? Even though this is a statement against interest, I think that you are smart not to buy the light. For most of us, these lights are toys, and therefore a want and not a need. You should never buy a want on credit. If you can't pay cash, or even if you have cash if you have to worry one bit about the money spent, then you shouldn't buy the flashlight.

I just might have to! I didn’t realize how small it really was until RMM showed it next to the M6… really incredible.

Haha maybe not as much as some people! I have lights worth more than that now, they just didn’t come from the factory that way. Even so, I think my most ‘valuable’ light is my X6 Triple that I have roughly $70 in.

Richard sounds like a wise old man in here :face_with_monocle: . Between his and my wife’s “advice” this won’t be on my shelf unless I get a significant, unexpected promotion at work.

It’s an amazing light though, i envy those of you with the ability to purchase one.

LOL… I guess I have too many “wants” than need :weary:
There’s so many times I said to myself… OK this is it… this will be the last light I buy, then again there’s always a GB and always a new and better light not too mention new LEDs :weary:
Maybe I should stop with this light

Rumor from the other side has it that Vinh is getting some of these to modify.

Modify? What would you do to it? Just bump up the amps a bit? (and add $75)

I’m wondering what it’d take to chop it down for 18350’s, how LOW can you go?

Don’t know if they could run it but it’d sure be neat looking as all get out! (well, ok, I know they could because I have 6 Efest Purple 18350’s running a triple XHP-70 which is, essentially, 12 XM-L’s right? This is the light making 14,455 lumens.)

Edit: See, you’re not a true flashaholic! He would also add his signature for another $50, add some trits, bump the amperage, change optics on the triples and get the price up over $400. SOME people don’t buy a light that cost’s LESS than that…

Dammit you guys, my wife is going to kill me ! I thought I would be able to resist this one. Ordered the dedomed xpg2, thanks for the commentary on the benift/cost of dedoming with this light Djozz and the photos of the backlit button Richard, that was the last straw indeed.

Also I was wondering, will the Panasonic 3400’s be enough to drive this light to its maximum output or do i need to switch to a vaping battery like the sony or efest IMR’s ?

Hank has said that it takes the high discharge cells to get the most out of it. I’d go with an Efest Purple 35A or LG HE-2, something like that. Button top, from the looks of how the cells fit in the tube.

Edit: I don’t see it on the website, but I’m sure I saw it said somewhere. Might not have been Hank.

And yes, Richard is speaking with great wisdom, crazy for a lawyer huh? :stuck_out_tongue: lol

Not sure what it’s worth, but I was just reading today about training camps for terrorists just the other side of the US border in Mexico. It would seem they are looking at knocking out power plants in New Mexico according to the big dawgs investigating that sort of thing. So are these high output lights toys? Or distinct tools for use in extreme circumstances? All I’m saying is the world is a wacky place, hedge your bets and lay in food stock, extra gasoline wouldn’t hurt either. Awareness is worth it’s weight in gold. For those not in the SouthWest US, well, y’all probably already know what I’m saying. Zombie’s rule in politics and our brains have already been eaten. :stuck_out_tongue:
