Shadow JM35: MT G2 one one cell!!

Aren't those websites run by the same person? Ric. I don't know I am asking.

yep.. same!

I’m curious if this can run on 2x26650 using the JM30 Ext. tube.

I emailed CNQG for answer.

I’m not. I specifically like the short version that runs on only one cell.
Compact, side switch, plenty light, decent cooling fins, just neat.

And it will defenitely NOT use the same driver as the JM30, because that one can only run an MT G2 on two cells, and it doesn’t have a side switch.
Still, the JM35 MIGHT run on two cells but I am not going to test that, risking a dead driver.

Maybe someone with the right knowledge and equipment can do that? Djozz maybe?
I’ll ask him when I have the lamp.

Uuh, don't know how to test a driver on two cells and not risk killing it.

That would be great, i would buy that kind of a FL definately

And 10x again for your efforts m8, i use your codes frequently

+1

For whoever is interested.

A few weeks ago I bought this driver to see if it will power an mtg2 from 1 cell.

Initial test was a success. A few weeks later, I see kd have a range of xhp drivers based on the original one I bought.

Is this the same driver?

I think yes, they are all drivers from Fei Long, the specification looks interesting but not sure about their stability though.

For one thing the driver is too large for most lights, which is 26mm in diameter.

I also like the short version with one cell for pocketability, however I thought it would be nice to also have the option of running 2 and 3 cell configuration for extended runtime, and for when I don’t need to pocket it.

Looking at the JM30 photo below, it seems a little too short in hand with the large head it has.
Mainly I want the side switch, too bad the JM30 doesn’t have a side switch.

without the extension tube is too short in my opinion…

nice size!

Also wish this had knurling instead of the ribbed design, love me some good knurling.

Like Shadow used to do.

I got the very nice looking Shadow JM26 some months back. Also bought driver for the DQG Tiny. With that driver, I was able to put the MT-G2 into the JM26 and run a single 26650 to the big emitter. Very nice light, and yes, unique running a 6V emitter off a 4.2V cell.

Very quickly became a favorite.

To me that looks more appealing than the jm35. What is the beam profile like?

do you have more info about the driver you used?

I dunno if its my luck or anything, but back in 2013 i bought SHADOW JM26 from FT….and wasnt that happy, i could see the PWM in lower modes, the body had minor scratches and the reflector came kinda dusty( you know how hard is to manage reflectors)…and as far as i can remember it was 55$+

Currently i am using Y3 with LD1 driver as my offhand torch for hunting, got also modded MTG2 with a single 26650 and that Aliexpress driver

Also Dale, did you have to modify the reflector?

Dale, I am also interested in the driver you used. Do you have a source?

These are the same “monster” driver for TR-J 12/18 back then

The driver is the one for the DQG Tiny, the triple with 26650 that’s so small. They sell it separately. I did have to remove the e-switch and swap it over I think, as the new driver didn’t come with one installed.

I merely cut a small place for the corners of the larger die substrate, removing the very minimum from the reflector base. After the XHP-70’s came out, I put one of those in this light in place of the MT-G2.

6A boost driver

My JM26 is nice, very well finished and clean as a whistle. I like it’s style, am still thinking about putting a kill switch in the tail for lockout as it DOES have a drain that will sap the big cell over time.
