New: Noctigon Meteor M43 ; in production New color added: Tan

No kidding, it’d be an expensive lesson turning a Meteor into a meteor.

I’ll refrain from speculation about the cause of your sticky keyboard.

Ok, just got it today. Wow, it’s small and heavy (relatively speaking)… And by the way thanks for linking the English manual some pages back because, out of the box I wasn’t sure how it operated.

So once I read the flow chart I figured it out… but don’t expect to get it without reading it… because you won’t. I like to think of it as a short cut based UI. I don’t necessarily love it, because you need to remember what 1 press, 2 presses, 3 presses do… but it isn’t difficult. UI 3, I don’t even think I’ll bother with, and so far UI 2 seems the one that suits me the best. Personally I’d like it if it was a press on and press off… with pressing and holding from on to get to the mode you want.

Unlike Dale, I probably won’t post anything until I’m finished with the review… but I plan on getting it in the mail in less than a week and a half… and getting my review up a few days after. It’s much brighter even in the daylight than my new Imalent DDT40… but I won’t know how much until I see it in the dark. The light is extremely well built… The fit and finish is pretty flawless too.

I hurried my look at it because I have one of my own coming and there were others wanting to get their hand on it. No real reason for me to do an in-depth review with extensive pics and video on the same light several others will also be looking at.

So I’ll give a better look with my own in XP-G2 S4 2B trim. And maybe then in XP-L V6 3D. And maybe then in Nichia 219C.

My review will probably be a bit briefer than I normally do, because of this. Can’t say I’ll drop the money on this one, unless I can get it for a decent price. That said, it’s tinier than any 4x 18650 light I own, and it’s also way brighter. By the way, what version of the light is this? Anyone know? Anyone know the specific optic used in it? I want to make sure my review is accurate.

The sample you’re playing with is the XP-G2 S2 1D de-domed with 10507 Carclo optics.

thanks!

Ok, I lied. I’ll upload runtime tests as I do them, even though I’ll speed them up a bit more and integrate them into my main review. I plan on also doing a runtime test on Turbo with some Sanyo UR18650FM 2600mah batteries… just for the hell of it… The light is recommended to use the LG high drain batteries… but the Sanyos didn’t do so bad. When I get both of them rendered I can watch the videos side by side to make an accurate assesment of how the batteries perform during this test

Ok here is turbo with the Sanyos.

Good Day mhanlen,

Great & Useful videos.

Thank you Very Much,

George

Nothing like a run time test with a couple of different batts. Thanks for the real info!

Having just watched the two videos side by side above… it seems the winner in runtime at least is the Sanyo by about 10 minutes. Plus is seems to have a much nicer taper off in brightness. I can’t say side by side which was brighter initially though.

And I happen to have around a hundred of those Sanyos..... But there laptop pulls.

I doubt they would last that long.

Thank you for the review!

Thanks for the videos!

My stone white xp-g2 s2 dedome just shipped. Now the real wait begins.

And another runtime test on High 1… Sorry I know these are boring, but I had some people mention I should have a slightly longer version to better appreciate the drop in brightness. They’ll be sped up considerably in the final review.

Hey mhanlen, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the video footage sped up around 50x, not 5000x? Seems like one video second corresponds to just a little less than one real minute.

Thanks for the shots though, they provide a very nice runtime & brightness comparison.

In Final Cut Pro, in the speed, I put in 5000. Is that not 5000x? Maybe it’s not interchangeable if 100 is full speed. Or would it translate to 500x?

5000% / 100% = 50x

120minutes compressed into 2 minutes is 60 times faster.

Mathematics :)
