advice on which protected 18650 to run at 4-5A

I’m looking for some advice on protected 18650 batteries to run 4-5A (no 4.35V batteries please). Looking for a balance of quality, run time, and price. I’ve looked at so many batteries at HKJ’s site that my head hurts. I’m leaning towards the NCR18650BE right now as it is a little better than the NCR18650A and is basically the same discharge curve as the NCR18650B with a little less run time but a $1-2 cheaper. Any other suggestions?

NCR18650BD and LG MH1 would be my picks. The BD is a tight fit in many lights, but the MH1 is more compact.

+1 on the BD, possibly even the B for that little bit more capacity.

problem is I am ordering a bulk quantity, like 20 batteries. I haven’t seen the BD’s for a decent price. FT has the BE’s for $6.28 each. The A’s are $6 each. The B’s are $7.22 each.

How much difference is there between the BD and BE?

For protected cells, you really need to know about the quality of the protection boards that are being used with the cells. Some of the cheaper protection boards only have a single MOSFET which limits the current, regardless of how good the cell is.

Hmmm some interesting info on the BE at CPF
