Yes, I ordered this one from that company on eBay and it arrived today. It’s made in China to Spanish design, although I’d love a JJ Martinez Arabe Navaja.
It’s a lovely little knife (10cm).
I don’t know what the steel is, but it is shiny which suggests 420/440 which accords with the way European makers aren’t as steel obsessed as American ones. It’s sharp and very pointy. Mmm, so pointy.
We call them Navaja too.
It makes me laugh when we see people selling their “martial arts inspired folding knife” when they’ve probably never been in a knife fight. The Navaja (in its 15-25cm incarnations) was the weapon of the lower classes, cutthroats and thieves.
The carraca makes the hair on my neck stand up when I open it. Every knife should have that chilling metallic rattle.
Really i do not know wich companies can make that old designs, but i can recomend you companies like “muela” and “cudeman” high quality spanish companies, especially fixed knives (Aitor, exposito, nieto… other companies too).
@steve or isti:
I got my orange EL01. It has two white nylon washers - every other EL01 of mine one white nylon washer and a metal one. Which one do yours have?
My torx 7 screw doesn't fit perfect (I ruined my screwdriver a few weeks ago and need a new one, to remove the screws).
If you mean you chewed the end of the torx screwdriver, just file it back some. It might fit better after filing too because they usually get wider further back.
I tightened the pivot on my orange one and I had to press the flat side of the pivot screw against a piece of rubber to prevent it spinning freely.
This new orange version must be from a different batch because the pocket clip and the machining of the liners is also slightly different from the previous versions.
I had seen this a while ago during an EL01 image search, then I scoured the web for quite a while trying to find a vendor for it and came up with absolutely nothing, only that one photo with a dead link.
I have a RAT II, which is the RAT’s little brother, but not too little! I am very impressed. For $19, I may just buy the big RAT.
What I am really wanting is someone to come out with a clone of the Benchmade Mini Griptilian! :heart_eyes: Love the axis lock, but the framelock is my second fave.
A Hungarian Spyderco? Where would I find them? :davie:
Nice pattern, but the stated blade material is “stainless steel”. I tend to think Chinese Damascus offerings are most probably just etched standard stainless, not the real thing.
Is it me or EL-01 series have gone UP in price quite a bit?!
@doubleknife
