Black Cat ??? 10440 , risky , its a AAA only light , I gave one to my mother , along with a Tank007 , both tail clicky AAA ... Both ran AAA in them but the Black Cat Died recently for no reason , the Tank 007 continues ..
Im currently waiting on KD to ship a Akoray AAA/10440 ..
But , if it can handle it , it will seriously boost it , or maybe fry it , you never know ..
I have a cheap AA job , I threw in the 14500 and boost city , but now the AA is so dim as to be useless , will only fire up on the 14500 .
Its a cheap enough light , but no one likes cooking one , and its really hard to get to the driver / pill , if you push from the front , you may break the lens and ??
I have to see about the one I have , if I break the lens , then ill bin it , if I can get the pill out , I might see about direct driving it .. On a 10440 , it should rock till the emitter dies ...
If your looking for a dirt cheap light , that can handle 10440 , try the NF-037-58 dx/sku.14881 , will run AAA or 10440 , at least mine does , and so far no damage ..
The other option is Akoray , for less than $10 , you can have a AAA/10440 tail clicky , so its not much more than the Black Cat , and hopefully better made .
The Tank 007 AAA [ dont remember which model ] , one of them can do 2xAAA , so it would not be a fantastic reach , to put a 10440 in it , nothing guaranteed .
Darn it , got fired up , Black Cat has a contact problem [ pill pushed forward ] ..
Threw in a 10440 , and its Turbo time , seriously boosted , cant vouch for life though , could be 5 seconds , could be 5 years ?
Best if you could measure the current in this direct drive mode.
I think the other issue than over-current is whether the driver dies.

BTW since I can't comment on the CPF thread since it's closed, it is GODP. I tested the Black Cat with 10440! IT WORKS!!! Turbo mode.
Almost in my unit it works, I had it with a full charged 10440 for 2 minutes and no damage nor the LED nor the Driver (still can use alkalines). Even it does not heat up as the F23 or the itp A3 eos. The heat generated is about 60% of the F23 with 10440 on HIGH.
Current Draw on tailcap 0,9 Amps peak and going down as battery depletes. However dont expect a pocket rocket. The light produced with 10440 is about the same as itp A3 eos with 10440 on MED mode (more than itp a3 eos with alkalines on HIGH). Something difficult to estimate "by eye" but about 90-100 lumens
No damages at all. However use at your own risk.
BE CAREFULL: I have read reports of LED going blue in the BC when 10440. Although is not my case, it can occurr

If I may ask, what's the problem with removing the pill of the Black Cat? I've had several of those in my hands, and all of them open easily.
I can't seem to unscrew the head on mine. Like it's glued at threads.

Black Cat , yes , it can be very tight ... Might do a mini review when time permits ,
Solarforce Skyline , yep , its begging to be modified , I just need to top up my funds so as to buy a lathe + tools + Live center + dial gauge + the rest = $$$$$
I also have a Piritlight and RQ [ spear clones ] that need more power .
