I was searching for my first modern LED flashlight, and was going to buy a 3AA light and thats how i found BLF. With good advice from fellow members i did not buy it but did purchase a better light that did ok with 3AA but better with lithium i bought a few weeks later to power it!
Always interested in flashlights but got really obsessed when walmart started stocking higher power lights. So read up on them and found this place. Seems folks here don’t like the stuff walmart has that much.
I found BLF searching for info on a good flashlight and what types of leds are out there. Still learning and reading the forum but not posting much, normally reading just clears it.
I found BLF after my wife bought me a an Olight warrior for my birthday. I was thinking hey, I can mod this. But it’s too nice of a light so I left it stock and turned some cheap lights into really bright cheap lights.
i got into flashlights by accident. i scratch-build night vision? spotters and weapons mounted? anyways… the IR illuminators is about half the battle… once my scratch builds were going half decent, it was time to play with IR illuminators…
eh, which is really a IR emitter “zoomie”, basically… I was first at “the other flashlight site” (which shall not be named, lol) and REALLY i didnt like it over there, not very much…
more budget lights, scratch builds, etc etc “going on” on this site anyways… plus when you added in the “no snob factor” of HERE? well… here i am…
somehow? i ended up getting into visible flashlights on top of my IR zoomie interests… even though i never intended to? now i am hooked.
My wife’s nephew in the Philippines wanted one of those advertised package deals for a zoomie Ultrafire Cree XML T6 2200lm with 2 18650s and a charger. I decided to investigate before buying. A google search led me here and to that other forum. Now I’m hooked.
