Got my new KD C8 yesterday, doesn't seem any brighter indoors than my SSC P7.

I'll hopefully be outdoors tonight, so I should get a better idea whether the C8 is in fact brighter.

Does the P7 have a smo reflector. The KD should be brighter outside. What batteries are you using?

Both have dimpled reflectors (I think you torch folk call them Orange Peel?) although there is a slight difference in the amount of dimpling between the two torches.

I'll try to upload a photo later to show the difference.

I'm using blue Trustfire batteries, I can't remember the mAh rating.

I just checked mine. Its OP and more dimpled. The SSC P7 is a bright light and against a wall the KD looks brighter to me. Time to get some better batteries.

I don't know a huge amount about batteries, but both batteries were fully charged and of the same type and current rating, wouldn't that rule out batteries as the cause?

Take it outside and you will see that the C8 is brighter. It’s hard to tell indoors. If you take it outside and find the P7 is really brighter, then you can start looking for problems.

If you dont have good batteries capable of sustaining 3 amps, your new XM-L will never perform to spec. Do you have a multimeter to test it?

I took both torches out on my bike last night. The KD C8 definitely out throws my MTE P7 and to my eyes is just about as bright on medium, as the MTE P7 is on high.

I use a multimeter to check the voltage on my batteries, but that's it.

A fully charged battery in good condition should deliver approximatley 3+ amps (measured at the tail) with that light. The KD light with its larger reflector blows away my +$100 MTE M3-2I XML.

how did it go ?

Was that question meant for me?

how about this one? is it any better then c8 in your opinion.

It's apparently more than twice the price of the KD C8.

But in a user review i read : ' a great buy. For 23 bucks you get a very powerful LED flashlight. Very bright and compact. I used it on a 4 day backpacking trip and it was very useful.'

strange...

and is the ultrafire x2 same light as C8, only few mm bigger diametar? As I can see c8 has 45 mm diametar and X2 has 49. Does the x2 has better throw due to bigger head?

yes just wondering if it was better out side, does it get hot after 5 mins of use on high ? mine was a bit of an under performer a bit of solder improved it.

get a hold of a multi meter to measure amps .

i have a set of batteries that limit to 700mA another, 1.5A - hugh difference and the first place to start ...

The KD C8 is definitely brighter than the P7, it throws further, and to me appears as bright on medium, as the P7 is on high!

I think the max current my multimeter will measure is pretty low, 500ma from memory.

good stuff it sdould have a nice beam to
