3rd annual BLF Scratch Made light Contest - Announced!

Personal moral conviction. Feel free to ignore it. 0:)

So the comps not based on how the FIFA is run?

By FIFA, you do mean, Freedom International Flashlight Association?

Enter again, for sure. You are the defending champion! :) [..but if you would like to offer a light as a prize, that would be really really cool! It could be given for the winner of the other category]

I agree that the more entries we have, the more fun will it be. BUT I'd like to keep the rules simple => There won't be more than two categories. However, the expertise of the contestant will be taken into account when judging.. Just mention your experience level in the modding story. Remember that this competition is as much about storytelling and documenting your build as about the build itself. :)

Everyone should try building their own light from scratch and participating this great event! Be brave and try it - you'll be surprised by the amount of encouragement you will receive.. Documenting also the problems and obstacles will both raise your score and allow others to give good advice how to continue!

I’ve modded plenty of lights but never built anything from scratch. Maybe i should give this a shot this year.

Put vesture down for the Machine class please :)

Weeks ago I got rid of loads of parts because I had basically got bored with modding lights, but creating from scratch…thats something else. Count me in!
I might even complete it this year within the time limits (ran out of time the first year)

hmm, i might try to do something this year, could be fun!

For clarification purposes: What is the definition/difference between the two catagories?

Lathe

Or electricity?

Or I guess what is the definition of “machine”?

Prior year’s threads elaborated on these points……

Its been nearly six days since RBD has been around. Hope he's ok and enters this year.

That was the plan if i can gather up the needed parts & free time to build it in time was to build a very close replica of the original Steam Light to offer as a prize for this contest for the other category. (and build something for an entry into the opposite category.

Yay!, the 3rd scratch build is going to be on. Thank you _the_ for taking on the responsibility of running it. I think you are well qualified to take the helm.

Although I really want to, I'm not sure if I will be competitor this year. Haven't had much time for hobby these days. If I don't, I sure will be rooting on the members that do. Is there a way for normal members who want to contribute a small amount to the cause? I imagine even just a few dollars from enough members will add nicely to the prize pool.

Here it comes! Many thanks to _the_ for helping organize this epoc contest, and best wishes to the contestants. Have fun guys!

Sticky’d.

For this light i can do all three, + sell my mother, looser !

:weary: guilty conscience but thanks for noticing. I had a a problem with the last layer of epoxy on the TP 4056 10180 charger for the geocash box then and went scuba diving in the Channel Islands with it unfinished. It’s ready now though and will get sent out to Djozz soon. I did hear from koyotee and he needs a bit of time and moral support so send him some positive waves.

As far as the contest goes, I’d be happy to contribute one way or another. Either as a judge, prize contributor, cheerleader, or, GHM a contestant, though I’m way behind on everything.

H'mm, r and r. Are we allowed to have that? Hope you had fun.

Nice weather, calm seas, lots of friends with beer and wine. Yah, good trip. boat captain speared a 27lb Yellowfin Tuna and sliced some up fresh w/wasabi and soy sauce. Several 400-500lb giant Black Sea Bass were also sighted along with Rays of several kinds plus the usual denizens of the notsodeep. In on spot I counted over 20 7-8” green Abelone in ~5 minutes(can’t take abs on scuba though). Surface temp was around 65F but there was a thermocline ~55’ below which the temp was 55F. We dove off San Clemente, Santa Catalina, and Santa Barbara islands before cruising back up to Santa Barbara. On the crossing between the northern islands and the harbor we saw a large pod of dolphins(~100) and another of Humpback whales(maybe 20).

yes, finally  , I was afraid it wont happen this year.
