Saypat, those are selling used in the neighborhood of $1000 so start saving the pennies :~ . If you google Tain Hyperlux you’ll see more photos of the incredible variations of it, and the unreal tailswitch options it had.
I am a HUGE fan of knurling, as seen in the Tain Hyperlux (the more aggressive the knurling, the better for me. I CAN’T STAND the useless knurling on lights like the convoys and nitecores (to name a few). If you knurled this light similar to the Tain for example (I am not saying replicate, but just style of knurling), I would definitely be in for one, pending more drawings or samples.
Unfortunately Rey isn’t able to to get that sort of knurling done, I have already mentioned it to him. Howevere this knurling will provide a good degree of separation between our light and the X6 or Hyperlux.
I believe it was a TnC design called the SFIII and Tain got permission to use it.
This whole idea has partially come about because I have always wanted a Hyperlux but wasn’t going to be spending $1000 on one. So I figured the next best thing was get my own one made with those sort of lines. With the Eagle Eyes X6 having a very similar design it was easy to come up with something which crosses between both of the lights but is still very much it’s own design.
This is gonna be SWEET! Y’all know I love’s me X6’s, and I’m a Ti fanatic from way back. Together, OMG! And yes, the Hyperlux has had me drooling for quite a while, so for this to come to fruition I absolutely MUST be in on it!
I know, I’m posting at the bottom but my name is at the top….that’s because I’ve been in on it from the get-go. Thanks LSX for thinking of me alongside this brilliant idea. I will definitely give it the most potent driver and emitter combination I possibly can.
I’m glad to be part of this project… To me the X6 is one of the nicest single cell mod-ready lights, head to head with the C8 and S2. I’ve built 3 X6s so far with different emitter options in each and I’m really happy with the builds. I’m sure this one will turn out amazing.
I have 10 X6’s ranging from a single XM-L2 at 1794 lumens to a single XHP-70 that has a modified extension tube on it for 2 cells, making 5502 lumens…. and several triples and Quads in between. I have built around 20, with a bag full of reflectors and stock drivers.
My last build was #10, utilizing the big copper sink designed for a quad…. modified it to fit a Fraen diamond patterned reflector and fitted it with an SBT-70 emitter. While it “only” makes 1500 lumens, it pulls 17.41A at the tail.
This one will be the piece de resistance though, can’t wait!
Hopefully we can pull this off as planned and everyone will be happy with the finished product. I can picture it all in my head, it’s just a matter of making that a reality now.
Here’s my collection layout, please feel free to make suggestions for this Ultimate X6…
