members for giveaways: there are more benefits if/when you join the community!

Hahaha, you'd have to be really quick to post the latest and greatest link out there :)

They have cost me a bit of time that’s true- but I’m sure you know that, as a fellow reviewer. Anyway thanks, I’m glad I’m seen as a contributer to this site!

What, you were having doubts? That’s crazy. I’ve watched one of your reviews I think 50 times. You’re the Cristopher Nolan of flashlight reviews. You are unique in this field. So yes, you are seen as a major contributer.
Sorry about the rant but it really grinds my gears when good people stay behind and not so good people get in front.

Well, we all should know there are people like that in the world. It’s just not something I think about going on here. So many of the members really are so helpful, and give us so much without asking much in return. It’s shocking to think those leaches exist here. Even if they are here all the time, reading every post, that doesn’t make them a contributor to the BLF community. But, what can we do about it? Nothing, really, unless someone wants to start keeping a blacklist…

Thanks DanielM! I’ve improved my technique tenfold since I did my first one way back when. I had no idea some people watched them that much. Most of my recent reviews have 1000 or less views, some less than 500- despite me thinking I’ve improved them quite a bit. I then look at many other youtube reviews of lights, that have many many more views and figure that I must be doing something wrong- even though I think I’m doing quite a bit right.

One recent review, the manufacturer even told me they wished I had done one in a more wooded area after I reviewed it. I had to explain that despite the lack of their preferred location that I spend a lot of time on them, and I don’t often have the time or work schedule that allows me to travel to a national forest and camp for several days for the purpose of doing a flashlight review for them.

Huh, I didn’t realize there was a way to list a member’s comments, as opposed to threads.

Thanks ChibiM!

i feel a bit guilty on my past few posts on that. haha. i really have nothing to contribute as of now :frowning:

Great ChibiM, now you’ve inspired others to do what you’ve done. To think someone is in a dark room, stalking and reading all your history, post by post

Man, I'm glad I never post anything!

So did that giveaway-member of the OP ever won a giveaway??

Hey Chibi, I'm almost at 5000 posts and I'm thinking of doing a giveaway, can you PM me the name of this giveaway-only member? so that I can reserve a small extra present especially for him, if he joins :-) (FTR, I have no evil intentions ;-) )

There are times when I feel like a cad

I don't mean to make anyone mad

But a flashlight for me

Is a tool used to see

More than that I have nothing to add

I’ve personally seen it happen a couple of times.

Eh, I guess this meant I got bored wayy earlier than ChibiM. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let him find out for himself.
I submit to you another type of user, the buyer/seller. Only posts here to sell or buy something.
Nothing else.

!!

I do also love to walk away with the loot, but next question is what to do with it.

The first few time it may be easy to use the stuff, but soon you got more than enough and do not know what to do with it.

The first few reviews it was nice to get stuff for "free", but today I only review the stuff, but do seldom use it (Do not ask me about long time usage). With maybe 100 charges* I cannot use all of them, but uses only the best ones that match my usage pattern.

*I do not know the correct number, I give charges away to friends and family, but mostly they run screaming away when I ask them if they need a charger or a battery .

I don’t know how you have time to do all the reviews you do. I know I have had to turn away a few… not that many. But you must have accumulated a ton of stuff you’ll never use ever again. I like you have given a bunch of my stuff away… but I barely have time for the few I do… I could never take on as much as you do. Kudos though, as your reviews have helped many of us here, who don’t have the testing equipment or technical know how to put chargers through any real testing.

Yes, these posts (and PM’s which I’ve also received from this member about items for sale) annoy me too. I guess now that the other side now effectively charges sellers might be relevant.

One of the important factors is automated testing. It might take a week to test a battery, but I do not use more than one or two hours.

I will guess that my testing time is about 72 hours each day and only a very small amount of that requires that I do some work.
