My third budget dash camera review ...

24FPS @ 1920 x 1080

Audio is poor ...

One very small dash camera = Very small text on screen when setting up

Not sharp enough for number plates ..

$29 ozzi bananas on Ebay with free shipping , $39 in the store (?)

Seems to work otherwise ...

Seems to handle light rather well ..

Thanks for the review :-) (I really appear to like watching these car-rides, what does that tell about me? )

The image quality looks budget again, I wonder if there is a budget camera that does have a crisp sharp image? (probably the answer is in the dashcam forum, but I'm not following that)

You need to spend at least $50 to get crisp ...

The G1W is the starting point for crisp .. I have one on order ... ( $46USD )

I think most of the plastic lens dash cameras are going to be some what image challenged ...

The first one I tested , i pulled it apart so that I could play with the lens . ( Play with the focus )

Love the music!!!

Thanks for the review, my son is about to be driving age and have been thinking about getting him one . Not for sure if that’s a good idea or not though.

The dash camera or the car ?

I can say with certainty that for me , the dash camera makes me think about my own driving a lot more than in the past , not that I was a bad driver .. I havent had a ticket for anything in 15 years + , just makes me think more about how dangerous driving is , and how a simple error in judgement can be expensive in the extreme ! , and not only to one self .

I believe every car should be fitted with a dashcam ..

Here in Oz we have to have a functioning fire alarm in every home ( Law to such ) , and I would like to see a similar law for cars ( Every car needs a functioning dash camera ) ..

Implementation would be simple , any seller of a car would be responsible for fitting a functioning dash camera , and it would be part of the roadworthy certificate .

Where I live ( Melbourne Australia ) driving skills have gotten so bad , its insanity to let so many poor drivers on the road .

Every time I get in the car I see people being silly ..

I missed out yesterday capturing a fool on cam ( It didnt start ) , and I might do a post on cam issues people seem to be having , heck I even had one .

I’m driving more carefully now too, but I don’t think dashcams force that- just look at the Russian youtube driving vids! Not that bad here yet, but they’re getting closer than I care for.

Thos might work for your son though. The driving habits which are created in the beginning years tend to stay with us, so if it gets him off to a good start we will have another sane driver who can share videos of the other kind of driver!

Phil

I started driving safer a long long time ago , I mean were all young once .. And I was never as bad as my peers . Possibly because half my time was spent on a motor bike , and an accident on a bike will never go your way ..

I wasnt slow on a bike , ok . But then I never had an accident either , I came close , very close , but no cigar ! So never ever dropped a bike on the road ...

I dont think the cam forces you to do anything , but I think it makes you Think a little .. So when you do a bo bo thats all your fault , its like .... Damn its on video now !

If anything happens , like an accident , then the bo bo might end up on the 6 o-clock news ! So hopefully it may act a little like a self sanity check .

And If I had a kid , oh yeah ! Dash cam , one that cant be turned of once the ignition is turned on and I would glue the memory card in so it cant be removed ...

I guess I might make a terrible dad to a teenager , cutting them no slack - especially driving a lethal weapon!

+++ PS ..

The GPS I would put in a teenagers car would have GPS data logging ..

That way you can see where they have been / when / and how fast they were driving ... ( No slack )
