Quick Review - Olight M3XS-UT Javelot *Mo Pics Added*

250 kcd at 2A driven XP-L? Crazy :) It would be really cruel to mod this light.

But it really does not need step down after 5 minutes. It would have perfect sense if driven with 4A driver but 2A?...

"All in all this is a very nice light. With a superior build quality and outstanding reflector, the factory de-domed XM-L2 is really cranking out the light."

You mean on XP-L right?

Very nice review from real pro.

It’s a buck driver, so the tail is only 2amps, but the emitter is getting much higher than that.

Now Dale, since this is a buck driver your measurement is misleading, that is the input current, since iy is bucking from 8.4V down to 3.5V you need to measure the output current. Let's see the output current, 4A, 5A?

Thanks for great review

Hope it will be my first thrower

Havent you read the text,or just watching pictures LED is getting 4A !!!

There are 2 cells handling the load here, so 2A at the tail (at twice voltage) and 4A at the LED.

Thanks,
-Chuck

Plan on getting some up-top readings this evening. It’s been a bad day, sorry, just bear with me.

Thanks for good review!

Nice review!! many thanks

You could say the measures reflector?

Thanks!

Nice review, Dale! Looks a lot better in your pics than on the product pages. The anodizing looks dark and nice and flat. Any chance of an in hand pic to get an idea how small or large it is? I'm imagining it's smaller than I'd think.

Nice review, I’m waiting for mine to arrive. The GB makes it one of the best deal of the year.

I added some 20 pictures to the end of the OP, and of course I forgot a few things. I didn’t measure the thickness of the AR lens, forgot to get an forward Voltage of the Moon mode, and didn’t get the in hand shot.

Yes, it’s smallish and lighter then you might expect, but with the very thin bezel giving a large diameter reflector that is sort of surprising. Looking at it from the emitter end, it’s all business!

I’ll get an in hand shot, maybe comparing to a family member… brb

A fuzzy in-hand shot (sorry) And a comparison shot…

I am pretty sure your last picture at the END of your review of the M3X, M2X and the M3XS, the M3XS does NOT have its extender on. With the 2 X 18650 setup I believe the M3X and M3XS Javelot are very close if not the exact same size?

I am sorry that I always seem to go back to this!! The M3XS Javelot is an awesome accomplishment for a stock light. What holds me back w/ lights like this is my Two[2] versions of the M2Xvn[XML2 U3/XPG2] are so much more compact and are 290Kcd and 385Kcd respectively. I only paid $20 more than the M3XS Javelot is for MSRP-$150.

I still use my M3X sometimes in my rotation. But it is such a long light in comparison the ones I just mentioned and others that give as much and more output in a much smaller package.

Dale, I believed you placed the cigar ring upside down :stuck_out_tongue:

Not that it matters!

Thanks xed888, I saw that in the pics! It’s fixed now.

And I fixed the lack of a link to GearBests website, it’s in the top of the OP now, under the listing of where I got the light.

Yes, I left off the extension as I like it more compact. I’m using a pair of 18500’s.

Edit: I found I can do this with any ol pair of cells as the regulation circuitry in this light holds the output very constant. So I have no issue using cheap lap pulls here, same out front performance.

Are your Vinh modified lights doing 4A to the XP-G2 or XM-L2? This one is making a de-domed 1200 plus lumens, from the factory. Sure, I could bump the resistors and replace the AR glass with UCLp and see some gains, but why? I can’t see the half-mile plus this one already throws, no need to do anything to it as it’s fresh from the factory awesome without going to any trouble at all. Nice for a change, to not have to make the modifications.

Out of interest, which 18500 do you use with this light? Would unprotected Sanyo 18500s fit?

Unprotected Sanyo’s are what I’m using, I got a dozen of them out of a laptop battery pack some time ago. They work find. You always have to check that the 2 cells will actually touch each other in the tube, or the light won’t work of course.

I almost bought a pair of AW protected cells for it, but decided I didn’t need to go to that expense as what I have here works fine.

Thanks for the info!

Now yes! Super complete all information :open_mouth: …. Many thanks for updating data
