Hi. This is addressed to all owners of the Thrunite TN4A (neutral white) here on BLF.
Could you please comment on the tint of the light please?
I ask this because, some time ago, I ordered the neutral white version of their TN12 (2014 version).
I was thinking that the tint would be similar to about a 3C , which I really like.
Instead, it turned out to be much warmer : between a 5 and 7C. I know some of you like the warmer tints but not me.
So I sold it off and ordered another TN12, this time in the cool-white tint.
I’m hoping the NW version of the TN4A is not going to put me in a similar situation.
I’m happy with it. The greenish hue is only noticeable when compared against other lights, all on a white wall (Pretty nitpicky). Side by side it’s better than my (#unknown) cw dedomes; that ended up fairly neutral with comparatively more green. Not quite as good as my NW SC01 (really perfect neutral white).
The light overall is one of my best. I love the 4AA config, UI, fit & finish, phenomenal e-switch, etc etc. The only thing I would change is the moon mode. For me, a fraction of a lumen just isn’t quite enough. I can still use its moon, but I would prefer ~5lm.
I’m very new to the interesting world of flashlights, but I suppose in this instance it is a blessing to be a bit colour-blind, because I have absolutely no idea what tint my TN4A produces, other than it is very dim when I want it to be (like checking on the baby) and crazy bright when I need it……
have the older XML2 NW TN4A the tint is fantastic and even at all output levels. Have read the new XP-L NW TN4A has mis matching tints between the high and low levels. As for the TN12 2016 I just sent my NW version back for the CW version as for some unknown reason my NW TN12 2016 put out as violet a tint as can be…
