Ok so I've got a Solarforce L2M body on the way, and I'd like to put a triple led into it.
So the questions I have are:
Should I get a triple XP-G or XM-L?
What size base will fit - 20 mm diameter?
Will I need to do anything to improve cooling?
The plan is to use this as a high beam on the bike (short bursts)
It will be driven by a 2800mA Nanjg 105. It will also be a used for pocket rocket value
Iād like to hear what you all have tried

XM-L will be more cost effective ..
But if you have the $$ quad XP-G might offer serious bling
Sorry , buying or Building ?

Thanks Old, I will be building.
I hadn't considered a quad as I wasn't sure about fit and optics availability.
If a quad fits and there is a decent narrow optic around then this is a definite option
Optic suggestions?

I have gone with the triple XPG and a range of optics from cutter (ledil and satu)
Beam-shots to follow once assembly is complete

I'd love to do this myself. could you photograph and document assembly please?
Could make a very interesting tutorial.

OK - I'll keep the camera handy when I do the build.
It will have to wait for a week or so as I need to go to the plumbing supply store. I hope to find a copper pipe end cap to use as a pill

With a quad XP-G I'd probably not bother with an optic at all, with that much output it'll throw anyway.
Just some sort of transparent cover to keep water out.
Heat will be the issue. If you have access to a lathe, machine the copper to an interference fit with the body - strip out any internal anodising - and heat the body to make the pill fit.
That way, you'll lose heat faster. And there is going to be a lot of it.
