Review TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5-Modes Memory LED Flashlight (3x18650)

These lights are really fun to play around with. I ended up getting one of these as a gift.

I wanted to ask: Did anyone experience some issues with the modes? After running on high for 30 seconds, the rest of the modes don't work (goes black). When switching to medium after it ran for 30 seconds, it will go black. If you leave it "on" medium it will kick back on in about 10 seconds. Cleaned and lubed it pretty good. I re-heated the solder on the outer-spring part of the module but that had no effect. No idea what the next step is.

Can anyone provide any input?

Otherwise, it's a really fun light. It feels heavier than my Sky-ray drop-in I purchased earlier. It's a tad dimmer also as others have mentioned. I'm probably happier with my SR just because it held up very well so far.

Is the UCL lens a worthwhile upgrade?

I intend on keeping this thing, its probably the plateau for performance/technology/cost for a long while. Its a long term "keeper".

No issues with mine. Where did you get yours? There appears to be some fakes on ebay

I think so it’s only a few bucks

I purchased mine from Manafont.com SKU: 8009 (the three 18650 version). Since I started reading this forum I stopped trusting other sellers. Online chat told me to E-mail them. Kind of worried about return shipping.

It's a very interesting issue. Could be as simple as a cold solder joint inside; however, it still doesn't make since why high works so solidly in that case. I'll see what Manafont says first before I go tearing into the driver. I could just order a new driver board but then I don't think it could accept 11.1 volts.

have a chat to Jim @ manafont as mine will run fine in any mode and will do 60 min runs on high and has been use for many hours now, sounds like yours might be playing up, im sure you have tryed other batteries ive had some cheapies cause me issue,s with lights cutting out before.

Is that a good way to measure? Less than 1m distance to the meter ?

I have chosen some optics from DX
SKU 13569
SKU 13618
SKU 43044
plz suggest which will be best for concentrated beam for using with TR3T6

There were some errors thatsy deleted my post instead Read the REPLY post of "Hikelite"(the grey portion) posted on Wed, 10/05/2011 - 21:39 post number #204.In conjunction also read post no #205 of mine.

Plz assist that if it is possible or not.

By reading to your reply post no #204,probably ur asking with referernce to the linked video of mine, even I don't have the clue,it was just that I found the 3T6 video on Youtube & for query pupose I posted, but I noticed some thing in the video actually the total corona section is not falling in the sensor so the actual lumen measure can get increased if "Less than 1m distance to the meter" is set.

no to mention the 3T6 light you mention is not the same light we have been talking about on here, its a drop in not the TR-3T6 screw in module to diffrent brands with two diffrent styles of drop in.

the TR-3T6 made by trustfire with the screw in module will throw 150 + meters depending of your conditions and what you call usible throw, mine to me will throw good usable light to 250 meters while lighting up the whole feild.

my opion is the 3T6 light you linked if your video will not handle long runs or transfer heat to well or as good as the TR-3T6 due to less contact erea of the drop in and not directly contacting the head.

i sugest reading the whole thread

hi ,it is really nice one ,how can i get one ?

TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5-Modes Memory LED Flashlight (2x18650)

Actually I had 2 primary questions & its not related to run times or heat management though they are very important

1>Was confused thatsy asked,if with the help of optics better throw can be attained with Tr3T6
which I chose from Deal Extreme for the best match\fit

ie;SKU 13569
SKU 13618
SKU 43044
plz suggest

2>I meant whether TR-3t6 has same luminous output as Tr-X6 ,actually the linked video showed that the luminous values for X6 & the one with 3t6 emitter which are same as same as in TR3t6 have relatively same light output.

so anyone...

None of them! Aspheric lenses are designed to focus a single, centered beam. With a triple LED light such as this none of the three beams will be focused and you would severely screw up the output and only make it worse.

The only way would be to use a single aspheric lens for each LED and figure out how to mount all three in the head at the proper focus distance. Even if a single lens like the ones linked could work the focal length would be all wrong as the reflectors on this light are too shallow.

thankx JohnnyMac it was helpful, saved me from purchasing the optics

You are welcome. I’d hate to see you waste your time & money and get excited for nothing.

Can't say for sure for this light, but I've seen 10-15% using the cheap KD voted lenses for P60 lights. If they have one in your size it'll be hugely cheaper than the UCL ones.

Actually I've seen way more than 15% but that was comparing a dirty glass lens of some age with a brand new coated one. I'd reckon you can expect the difference between one Cree bin and the next - 7-10%.

Whether that is worth it to you is another matter.

Has anybody tried this with 4xCR123A? The voltage shouldn't be too high once you get some load on the batteries (but don't blame me if it the driver burns)... CR123As would provide a nice backup and be always usable even if you take the flashlight out of the glovebox after two years of no use and in -30C temperature. And you would have a wall of light available to scare away the wolves ;)

Can anyone tell the size of the diameter of single refector in TR3T6.
