It will get updated as the parent Excel document does.
Viewing is good. On my sheets w/ write ability, I can sort with mouse-over on the column header, so anyone who wants to do so would have to make their local copy before they could do it.
Can't really make it editable for everyone as sooner or later someone will vandalise it. I am happy for anyone to take a copy and do anything non-commercial with it. If someone wants to make money from it, I'd expect to get paid but apart from that feel free to take your own copies and do whatever with them. On an online version I can easily add any fields that anyone would find useful and people can take what they want.
Edit: Have just started putting in retailer links. Where they still exist.
Works just fine for me. Thanks Don!
So you finally decided to try - nice!
Now I can reach your comparison wherever I am (yeah, I know it sounds like a cheap catch phrase for Google Docs )
I have big problems with Google (I'd rather deal with Everybuying!) which was the real issue. But it does what I want and they don't want money. In fact the Google Docs spreadsheet now has information I don't have in the parent spreadsheet. This was probably a mistake as version control is going to get complicated. But with a bit of experimenting I may be able to get what I want out of Docs which is essentially to collate all the information I can find about a given light and pull it together in one place.
And in a form that is still usable. Since I am usually using a 2560 pixel wide screen I can get more onscreen than most people and don't want to force people to scroll sideways. I totally hate that. I suppose he way to go is a hyperlinked sheet for each light so that fuller information can be given there.
Battery life needs to be on the front sheet and probably a star rating and build quality assessment so that people only need to dig into the lights that look like they might actually be interesting to them.
Information overload is a problem and I don't want to add to it.
This is all designing at the keyboard which is always a bad idea.
Thoughts anyone?
Truly impressive work Don! Thanks very much. This one might actually go as a link in the sidebar.
Have you thought about this option? http://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55244
Sounds interesting - will need to take some time to see what can be done.
Here is the latest version.

Google Docs version also updated.
More numbers added (Aurora SH-034) to the spreadsheet here
This now contains more info than the parent spreadsheet.
Version control issues are going to arise (Hah! Have £%^$^$%&* arisen) soon so don't be surprised if the Google Docs spreadsheet changes radically in the near future while I sort out version control and formatting issues.
Time for some fun - throw numbers for the tiny and dim lights. Should be on the spreadsheet shortly.
What I want to do is conceptually similar to embedding a photo but with a Google Docs spreadsheet.
Now how to embed it? The insert/edit embedded media button isn't helping as it expects video formats.
Suppose I could copy and paste the source for the Google Docs output...

Well it sorta kinda worked - not pretty though. Time for a think and some coffee
Seems to work! :D
It doesn't matter for me, as I always have the shortcut to your GoogleDoc in my Docs :)
No praise is too high for the work you have done so far. Thanks very much for your effort.
That's certainly the best bet for now - the formatting above is quite a long way from pretty. I think i have another 40 or so lights to go, several of these duplicates which should give a feel for reliability of the data.
Edit: Especially as the embedded version above is not updating which was the whole point of trying it. Ah well, back to the thinking..

78 lights now
Apparently SZWholesale/QCC have got themselves an "integrating sphere" and some sort of spectro capable device.
Their results are in line with yours (though about 20% lower for this, about right for the trustfire xp-g a3, 20% higher for z1).
http://www.qualitychinagoods.com/ugsby-cree-3mode-80lumens-flashlightfcp32-p-1749.html
btw, LOL "ugsby"
Don thinks they read low. I think more likely many chinese lights are crap design or bad quality control, but I haven't seen their sphere so who knows. They have p7/mc-e with close to 600lum which is about the OTF limit for these, and I saw 750lum for sst-50.
I seriously doubt many of these sst's are getting much more than 3 amps. The only "sst" driver is on KD and it seems to be a slightly modified p7 driver that someone measured at barely over 3amps.
