I don’t suppose it’s possible to get just the ring?
Any idea if other hosts might come with a compatible ring? I have some Convoy S-series lights where I only use the head (for firmware testing), and could use the tail parts in other lights.
The Convoy S series seems to have slightly differing threads from the BLF Ti, except for the S7. Not everybody is having trouble with the switches. All of mine are fine, albeit with the weaknesses noted above. And the more competent replacement from Rey is only $2.50.
My Light’s been delivered and kudos, Rey. Nice job. I see the issue with the switch. Can you put me down for one? Also, mine came without the rubber button, do you have any the right size?
I have one of the first batch BLF EE X6 and the retainer and switch fit nicely and should work fine as long as there’s a proper sized disc over the switch for the rubber button to seal to.
You can probably find something suitable in the hardware store, but weird enough Fasttech sells them as a dedicated switch part : https://www.fasttech.com/products/1616/10007333/1611614-iron-tail-switch-gaskets-for-led-flashlight-diy . I ordered them a while ago to see if they fit the small Omten correctly (they should) but they did not show up yet.
That is quite a setback, sorry to hear that. Brass is nice but aluminium retainers should be fine too if they are a bit thicker: because of the softer material the threads wear out easier. I think 3mm thickness is thick enough for good threading and thin enough to not cause extra battery space problems (a compressed tail spring will not normally be thinner than 3mm).
The TI switch cap retainer is also overly loose. Not a problem once it’s down tight on the switch but the retainer inside should be a better fit than this.
