Fenix BC30R Review

Ok there was a thread a little while back discuss this thing a bit. USB chargeable self contained light. Many complained about the whole self contained thing and how charging takes too long cause USB charging is SLOW etc.

Well its a usb chargeable, self contained with dual 18650s Neutral White dual emitter bike light. AND IT WORKS GREAT. Charging is really no longer than normal at least for me but I have 2A usb chargers. Light charges about as fast as any other pack I plug into my balance charger or a 2A wall adapter.

Run time is true to indicator. Beam pattern took a bit of getting used to and bothered me at first, but it found a perfect home, MY COMMUTER. But no issues riding on the trails as my rides last about 45 mins at a shot anyway. I dont have a lot of miles of trail I can access at night. 1 trail really close to home that we are just building so only around 20-25 mins for a loop there, and next closest trail with night access is 45 mins away and takes about 35-45mins (depending on how i decide to ride) to make a lap. Not my favorite trail light BUT IT WORKS REALLY WELL!!!

Not to mention its fenix quality, very nice, solid and just DONE RIGHT!

Fenix BC30R @ Gearbest.com

Did you get it for free from Gearbest?

Thanks for the review. Where do you have your action cam for the trail shots?
head, chest or bar ?

Just checking out your channel and found this:

How visible is this? I’m into the market for a tail light. Is is bright enought to be seen at night? Thanks.

Camera is mounted on my bars.

Any tail light is going to be seen at night :p. But that one is really bright and almost obnoxious.

That is EXACTLY what I need. How much lumens would be your guess? In the 50 lumens ballpark? Any clues on the runtime?

Its a tail light, I didn’t know anyone on the planet measured tail light lumens. Its extremely visible id say more so than my cygolight tail light I have on my commuter. It also runs on AAA batteries so not going to use up a set of batteries just to test :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the great review. The BC30R is what I originally wanted, but I was turned off by the non-replaceable batteries, so I purchased the BC30 instead for $79.00, and really love it. But I really love that digital readout of the BC-30R.

Of course you don’t owe me anything to either 1)reply me 2)test runtimes or 3) use up your AAA batteries.

I loled though at using up 2 AAA batteries. Was kinda cheap!

Might want to invest in some NiMH AAA/AA’s.

I was just being a smart a lol. Honestly I just haven’t messed with it, didn’t think much of it, just a tail light. Didn’t expect anyone to really want/need amy info on it, so caught me by surprise. As for being cheap, actually just lazy mostly (and ya a bit cheap) as I dont want to have to remember to go buy more. That’s why I spent the money on the USB chargeable cygolight tail light for my commuter. Batteries ain’t cheap (and I hate NiMH batteries, have since I first got turned onto lipos several years go)

Its got 9 of the standard, annoyingly bright red 5mm less in it. Some are behind diffused housing but a few (in the optics areas) are not.

I do know you can be seen really far away, it and the other tail light I have from GB catch me off guard when I see flashing red light 150ft behind me reflecting off a sign on the road.

I do really like the long skinny one I got from GB, its in my trail bike for night riding. It has a chase pattern that reminds me of the the car KIT from the tv show knight rider. (no pun intended there lol) but its a back and forth chase pattern is cool.

Ok back on topic :stuck_out_tongue:

OT: Thanks Tigris. Ordered 5 of them based on them being really bright and almost obnoxious.
Just what is needed!

OK wanted share this, not a bad little deal. King you may like this :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool bit of a deal. Get a BC30r. Gearbest is throwing in a convoy s2+ flashlight and a decent tail light (one i actually have and use, works rather well)

So whole deal for the $139 for the BC30R, other things are included free when you add the Fenix too your cart. Not a bad deal IMO since Fenix lights are the same price anywhere. Get some needed stuff for free with it. BC30R, add to cart, get free Torch and Tail Light

Well, I know this thread is ancient but I just bought a BC30R, which is the 2017 version and rated at 1800 lumens.

1800 lumens seems legit, the build quality is excellent. The switch and body of the light seem pretty solid, as does the mounting system. I like the beam pattern and I really love the screen with the runtime rating. The remote switch will flash the light even if the light is turned off, I like this, really nice touch.

Haven’t taken it out on the trails yet, but I’m looking forward to, I’ve a feeling it’s not going to disappoint. Very tempted to buy another for my road bike as I can’t imagine I’m going to be happy going back to a handlebar mounted BLF A6 after this bad boy!!!
