The Maratac copper AAA light my friend has tarnish's quickly, plus the SS lights I modded get super hot (TrustFire F35, etc.). But... these will be classics, one-of-a-kinds, and I trust the team to ensure the quality is there, so I think this deal can't miss, as long as it can get done. If they do end up to be all or mostly SS, and all or mostly copper, they will be hefty for sure, but will make them feel like quality as well.
For the X6, I'd prefer some SS on the bezel and tail, rather than the whole body - much better for heat sinking, but still an X6 all in SS would sure be a sight...
Copper tarnishes quickly, but it looks really nice in tarnished form and the tarnish can be removed fairly easily. I can generally just rub my finger over it for a few minutes and it’ll mostly restore the original color (though to make it shiny, actual polishing is needed). It doubles as a fidget widget or a worry stone. Recessed areas will stay darker, but that also kind of adds to the aesthetics.
Question… and I hate asking it. Are we looking at 3 months, 6 months, or more? I am very patient, but if this arrives after Christmas, it’ll be a no go for me.
Guys, this is krono’s GB. Any decision to swap places around on the list will have to be made by him. He is not here right now, so bugsy has been keeping up with the list, but has already stated that he is NOT going to make any position swaps! Please understand. When krono gets back, you can ask him. But please stop spamming the thread with requests to be switched around. Thanks!
These lights are on the fast track because a lot of the road has already been traveled. The driver and UI already in use (BLF A6). The X6 is a no-brainer because we all know what it is. The manufacturer is familiar with dealing with us here on BLF. With all that...we aren't where we once were with the X6-SE, LS D80-SE, and the BLF A6.
This light will go into production quickly. This is another reason of why I am pushing hard to get people on the lists.
I agree that it's unlikely for people to receive the serial number of their preference regardless of their position on the lists. It is both a tracking nightmare for the Group-buy admin, and worse logistically for the manufacturer. Imagine that unit number 3 gets dropped, broken or fails whilst in the factory after a production run, and they decide to trash it. Suddenly everyone past number 3 might receive a number different than on the list.
Nonetheless some people are more interested in their position and numbering for any given/bizarre/weird/petty/superstitious reasons is up to them. Not everyone will care about such minor things, or even understand the rationale, but there is nothing stopping them showing interest in swapping positions whatever the reason. (These are probably the same thoughts our wives have when we come home with yet another 'boring torch' to add to our shelf collection of 50 that all do the same darn thing!)
Krono stated in the OP:
Emphasis added by me on "LOWER", which does not necessarily mean EXACT! Probably best to define it as 'position in list (and possible, maybe, tentative, but not very likely, serial!)', instead of 'desired serial number position'.
But as you quoted Bugsy further noted:
I will note that someone wants a certain number but think that both parties should state acceptance in the thread...
I believe that is all most of us (including myself and many others) have been doing: Making a request to the other person, and the other person accepting. Bugsy has also very kindly already been annotating these requests against his update lists, which he offered to do.
We should personally only address Bugsy directly to annotate the list (not to swap them), AFTER both acceptances had been posted. Your post should be directed at anyone requesting Bugsy actually does the swap as this is the only thing he said he wouldn't do without Krono.
On the plus side, all this nonsense (granted it is ridiculous!), is driving engagement amongst individuals; and we are all chatting, PM'ing each other, and showing enthusiasm and passion for the hobby and groupbuy. I don't think this necessarily classifies as spam posts though.
