You are brave for even attempting this. Smile

That’s what I think, don’t think the shippers will be able to handle this correctly and send out the correct serial numbers but I hope they do.

The Maratac copper AAA light my friend has tarnish's quickly, plus the SS lights I modded get super hot (TrustFire F35, etc.). But... these will be classics, one-of-a-kinds, and I trust the team to ensure the quality is there, so I think this deal can't miss, as long as it can get done. If they do end up to be all or mostly SS, and all or mostly copper, they will be hefty for sure, but will make them feel like quality as well.

For the X6, I'd prefer some SS on the bezel and tail, rather than the whole body - much better for heat sinking, but still an X6 all in SS would sure be a sight...

Copper tarnishes quickly, but it looks really nice in tarnished form and the tarnish can be removed fairly easily. I can generally just rub my finger over it for a few minutes and it’ll mostly restore the original color (though to make it shiny, actual polishing is needed). It doubles as a fidget widget or a worry stone. Recessed areas will stay darker, but that also kind of adds to the aesthetics.

I don’t know why I thought I was going to be able to not buy a set of these. Put me down for one of the Aluminum sets in NW.

Question… and I hate asking it. Are we looking at 3 months, 6 months, or more? I am very patient, but if this arrives after Christmas, it’ll be a no go for me.

Being lured into the swapping madness :-),  ReManG requested a swap amd that's fine with me: please swap my (just acquired Laughing)  #15 with his #7.

Think of the bitter disillusion after the swapping dust settles and then folks receive a different number. Cry

Krone mentioned that it will finish just in time for Christmas.
He did not mention which Christmas.

Guys, this is krono’s GB. Any decision to swap places around on the list will have to be made by him. He is not here right now, so bugsy has been keeping up with the list, but has already stated that he is NOT going to make any position swaps! Please understand. When krono gets back, you can ask him. But please stop spamming the thread with requests to be switched around. Thanks! Smile

Hey bugsy, I just realized that in your SS/CU list, you have DBCstm at number three. Perhaps you should change it to his new name DB Custom?

These lights are on the fast track because a lot of the road has already been traveled. The driver and UI already in use (BLF A6). The X6 is a no-brainer because we all know what it is. The manufacturer is familiar with dealing with us here on BLF. With all that...we aren't where we once were with the X6-SE, LS D80-SE, and the BLF A6.

This light will go into production quickly. This is another reason of why I am pushing hard to get people on the lists.

It's the simple things that we take for granted that cost us the most

Such a good time for group buys on BLF, some phenomenal lights on the horizon.
Not enough thanks can be said for the members that organize it.

I agree that it's unlikely for people to receive the serial number of their preference regardless of their position on the lists. It is both a tracking nightmare for the Group-buy admin, and worse logistically for the manufacturer. Imagine that unit number 3 gets dropped, broken or fails whilst in the factory after a production run, and they decide to trash it. Suddenly everyone past number 3 might receive a number different than on the list.

Nonetheless some people are more interested in their position and numbering for any given/bizarre/weird/petty/superstitious reasons is up to them. Not everyone will care about such minor things, or even understand the rationale, but there is nothing stopping them showing interest in swapping positions whatever the reason. (These are probably the same thoughts our wives have when we come home with yet another 'boring torch' to add to our shelf collection of 50 that all do the same darn thing!)

Krono stated in the OP:

kronological wrote:

7/11/15 Keep in mind that these lights will be Serial Numbered...so...the sooner you get you name on the list, the lower the S/N you will receive!

Emphasis added by me on "LOWER", which does not necessarily mean EXACTProbably best to define it as 'position in list (and possible, maybe, tentative, but not very likely, serial!)', instead of 'desired serial number position'.

But as you quoted Bugsy further noted:

bugsy36 wrote:

I believe that is all most of us (including myself and many others) have been doing: Making a request to the other person, and the other person accepting. Bugsy has also very kindly already been annotating these requests against his update lists, which he offered to do.

We should personally only address Bugsy directly to annotate the list (not to swap them), AFTER both acceptances had been posted. Your post should be directed at anyone requesting Bugsy actually does the swap as this is the only thing he said he wouldn't do without Krono.

On the plus side, all this nonsense (granted it is ridiculous!), is driving engagement amongst individuals; and we are all chatting, PM'ing each other, and showing enthusiasm and passion for the hobby and groupbuy. I don't think this necessarily classifies as spam posts though.

Just my thoughts.

Second line from the OP

“Keep in mind that these lights will be Serial Numbered…so…the sooner you get you name on the list, the lower the S/N you will receive!
krono”

Now, where does that say you have an dedicated assigned number?
You have request 4th on the interest list, but The guy making the first 5 at the factory may take those, Head of manufacturing, etc.

It just states that your serial number will be lower than the 100th member “requesting purchase”, not reserving number 100.

For the sanity of everyone, please stop pretending you will get “your number”
Not gonna happen, setting yourself up for disappointment.

Can see it now, “I’m filing a Paypal dispute and I want them to re-run another 33 because I didn’t get it, I got 38 and that is known to be an unlucky number because BillyBob Mcelroy lost his life in a racecar with that number back in 1938 and it had an X6 sticker on it, just like the X6 in this flashlights name. To risky for me to own.

Krono, please stop the madness soon.

...So what you're saying Muto - is that you agree mostly with my post directly above yours? Tongue Out

That said, I'm not so bothered about the serial numbering, but it would still be nice to be in the desired position on the list (-even if it is only on the list!) Laughing Innocent

I still don't understand why it would bother anyone else if both parties are amicable and agree they would like to swap (first by PM, then each simply confirming by a short post).

It seems like Krono and Bugsy were happy to keep track of the few requests; so as long as we all understand that it is probably just a number position "on the list" and not any form of guaranteed representation of serial number, what's the harm done?

Of course if Krono states he is unwilling to entertain people wishing to simply swap spots on the list, then that is different - and ultimately up to him. Cool

If anything I genuinely think it's making people talk to each other when they might not have before. Also, it keeps the visibility of this post high at the top of the forum and therefore generates more interest and, ultimately, uptake of the Groupbuy. (I only added myself for a third and fourth set so that I appeared in a numbered position 31! - which was then disrupted!) It's all fun and games!

Didn’t the do a group buy on a little SS light from CNCQ where you could get your name or whatever you wished engraved? This is really no different, maybe a bigger group buy but in the end the individually serial numbered lights are matched to the customer order. The real problem is that the quality control is done by Chinese speaking people reading English names and numbers. Wink

Edit: And any damaged or faulty lights are less subject to random delivery. Say the worker sees light number 13, “ooh, bad luck light!” throws it on the ground, stomps on it a few times, spits on it… that light is going to a specific individual not randomly delivered. Silly

I’m #24 and #35 on the AL list, and I am willing to trade with Anyone in consideration of a paltry $100 (ea.) Fee.

These two numbers are very, Very important to me (for Very Personal reasons), but purely because of my altruistic nature, I am willing to do this. – That, and because I don’t give a Damn about the lights at all, only the Numbers that are printed on them… (did I get that backwards?)

Never the less – First, “I’ll Swap” gets em!

Special (Today Only)… I’ll swap Both numbers to the same person for Only $199!

Thank you,
-Chuck Cash

FWIW, many cities have laser-engraving services… so you could also get whatever you want engraved onto each light.

I’ve been really tempted to add “Carpe Noctem” to some of mine.
