BLF Kronos X6/X5 GB - Group Buy now closed.
I agree that it's unlikely for people to receive the serial number of their preference regardless of their position on the lists. It is both a tracking nightmare for the Group-buy admin, and worse logistically for the manufacturer. Imagine that unit number 3 gets dropped, broken or fails whilst in the factory after a production run, and they decide to trash it. Suddenly everyone past number 3 might receive a number different than on the list.

Nonetheless some people are more interested in their position and numbering for any given/bizarre/weird/petty/superstitious reasons is up to them. Not everyone will care about such minor things, or even understand the rationale, but there is nothing stopping them showing interest in swapping positions whatever the reason. (These are probably the same thoughts our wives have when we come home with yet another 'boring torch' to add to our shelf collection of 50 that all do the same darn thing!)

Krono stated in the OP:

Emphasis added by me on "LOWER", which does not necessarily mean EXACT! Probably best to define it as 'position in list (and possible, maybe, tentative, but not very likely, serial!)', instead of 'desired serial number position'.
...So what you're saying Muto - is that you agree mostly with my post directly above yours?

That said, I'm not so bothered about the serial numbering, but it would still be nice to be in the desired position on the list (-even if it is only on the list!)

I still don't understand why it would bother anyone else if both parties are amicable and agree they would like to swap (first by PM, then each simply confirming by a short post).

It seems like Krono and Bugsy were happy to keep track of the few requests; so as long as we all understand that it is probably just a number position "on the list" and not any form of guaranteed representation of serial number, what's the harm done?

Of course if Krono states he is unwilling to entertain people wishing to simply swap spots on the list, then that is different - and ultimately up to him.

If anything I genuinely think it's making people talk to each other when they might not have before. Also, it keeps the visibility of this post high at the top of the forum and therefore generates more interest and, ultimately, uptake of the Groupbuy. (I only added myself for a third and fourth set so that I appeared in a numbered position 31! - which was then disrupted!) It's all fun and games!

Didn’t the do a group buy on a little SS light from CNCQ where you could get your name or whatever you wished engraved? This is really no different, maybe a bigger group buy but in the end the individually serial numbered lights are matched to the customer order. The real problem is that the quality control is done by Chinese speaking people reading English names and numbers.

Edit: And any damaged or faulty lights are less subject to random delivery. Say the worker sees light number 13, “ooh, bad luck light!” throws it on the ground, stomps on it a few times, spits on it… that light is going to a specific individual not randomly delivered. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m #24 and #35 on the AL list, and I am willing to trade with Anyone in consideration of a paltry $100 (ea.) Fee.

These two numbers are very, Very important to me (for Very Personal reasons), but purely because of my altruistic nature, I am willing to do this. - That, and because I don’t give a Damn about the lights at all, only the Numbers that are printed on them… (did I get that backwards?)

Never the less - First, “I’ll Swap” gets em!

Special (Today Only)… I’ll swap Both numbers to the same person for Only $199!

Thank you,
-Chuck :money_mouth_face:

FWIW, many cities have laser-engraving services… so you could also get whatever you want engraved onto each light.

I’ve been really tempted to add “Carpe Noctem” to some of mine.

I’ll take mine engraved:

Carpe Snooz’em

or if that’s not available

Carpe Peeum

I still like my tacky shirt I use to work out and walk around in: “Si hoc legere scis, nimium erudition habes”

I’m in.

Education, or knowing things, is like having flashlights. You can never have to much. And it doesn’t all have to be the high-end stuff.

Knowing how to make an excellent 5 alarm chili on a cold winters day can be CRUCIAL! Just like knowing exactly how much Vodka to pump into the watermelon on a hot summers day….

.

Dale,

You have stated recently that you use your somewhat older or less capable 18650s in your kids lights.

I have to ask: Are you accepting any more applicants for Kids?

5 alarm Chili, Vodka, Free lights and Batteries…I’m Your Boy!

Kindly Say YES, and lets make this a done deal!

BTW, I am 66yrs old, is this gonna matter to you?

I am already semi housebroken, if that counts for anything.

Thanks for your consideration!!!

-Your Very Possible Future Son, Chuck

Nice Deal (again)

Because Kronos is unavailable.....

I have to inform everybody that the XPL Hi WILL be available but I do not know what tints will be available. The availability of specific tints up to now really sucks and being able to source 500-1000 pieces is difficult so while if someone prefers the XPL Hi in a certain tint please understand that at "go time" they may be unavailable.

Nah...don't hate yourself...that is unproductive. I think the large custom group buys for this year are coming to a close for receipt by the Christmas season but there is always next year that needs to get started on :)

Hopefully 5700k tint for XPL HI, stoked that it’ll be an option, will it also be driven as hard?

Wow. These group buys are amazing.

The driver is an FET +1, meaning the lower modes are run on a single 7135 chip for efficiency and the upper 3 modes have the FET driving direct drive… well dd for Turbo mode. So yes, the lights will be driven as hard as whatever emitter lands in em can do.

PWM to lower the mode is not normally efficient on an FET driver as it is having to control that modulation from the full amperage of the driver. So if we’re pulling 6A then moon is modulated from that 6A. The FET +1 driver uses that single 7135 to run moon and the next 3 levels so that only 380mA is modulated, much more efficient and a LOT less heat burned off. ToyKeeper wrote the firmware to use percentages of the chip plus the mosfet in the middle modes to optimize this efficiency, creating a well spaced group of modes that are as pleasing to the cell as to our eyes. That is what makes this so special, and with the reversing feature in use on a regular tail clicky, very unique as well.

Thought I’d throw that out there for those that are new to the A6 firmware from TK. I LOVE this driver! (driver a design of Wights, who is on hiatus at the present time.) I even have a 10mm variant of it in my Titanium Texas Poker you see in my Avatar. It’s a 10440 cell light that pulls a little over 3A for 1117 lumens. Even as a twisty, the reversing feature still works and I have the hidden modes and batt check. Gotta love it!

Point being, the small 14500 K6 will be as kick butt as that cell size can deliver, and it’ll be a worthy sidekick to the larger 18650 X6 to be sure. Epic!

One HAIII AL WW set please! I had signed up already, but my reply must have gone unseen.

This sounds great! I finally have a chance at owning an original BLF X6.
