Give a little back, show your appreciation for a great member

No doubt that bigger is better.

I’m in! Very nice thing to do! The people of BLF are way cool! The GODFATHER of BLF! I like it!!!

In!

Great cause.

Count me in.

I think they call it “paying it forward” right Old-Lumens?
I’m in.
One option would be a special price for those that donate, if he indeed decides to start selling things, so long as he makes a bit for his time of course.

Yeah, I don’t think a gift like this should have any requirements attached to it. This is being done because of what O-L has already added to this forum in so many ways. In my eyes, he has already earned this lathe. I’ll contribute a little bit to it. Thanks Old-Lumens for all you do!

I know Krono (Steve) has been called upon a lot for various things (mainly group buys) here.
Then there is Dale who also has a lot on his plate to deal with, but I know both of these guys are great people and may be worth a check with one of them about collecting the funds and all.
I am neighbors with Krono (2 houses down) and I would be willing to help him out (if he took on the task) as I know most of you don’t know me from any other stranger and I am fairly new to the forum and all.
Also count me in for whatever I can give, as it may not be a lot but I will do what I can as I am on a fixed income myself.

I’m in, and I’ll contact Texas Lumens who sells lathes and CNC machines and see if he can fix us up with the right equipment. He’s in Texas already and just might be able to deliver it personally and walk Justin through the set-up.

I’ll ask… Dan and Justin are both a very helpful couple of older guys, together they’d make quite the cranky dinosaur! :stuck_out_tongue:

I as already thinking along these lines when I saw this thread start up, and I knew Justin wouldn’t approve but hey, if a lathe shows up what’s he gonna do, say no?

Great work everybody, and nice heart.

Count me in!

I attached no conditions to my offer to help. I have great admiration for the man.

What a GREAT GROUP!

I have replied to an email from Justin this AM. We don't want to do something to cause him problems. I know with hearts showing here as they are, this would crush us all if we did something like that. I asked these questions exactly as I am pasting them in...

1. What will you want the lathe to do for you?
2. What can you make the lathe do?
3. What power is available?
4. How much room do you have?
5. What can you have there without causing you problems with the retirement community? All these folks are wanting to help... not cause problems.

WELL.... Justin called in the middle of this posting... He is checking power availability. It sounds limited so we will need to be careful. As usual, he is so humble and appreciative... while in shock!! I will edit this to help out when I hear from him. THANKS TO ALL!!! Dan.

No conditions wouldn’t even think of it! Might even have some Lathe tooling once he get’s settled on what size he need’s! There is always auctions on machines, mill’s, lathes and tooling here in the “D”!!!

Amen! on that first line. I'll bet I have some tooling too. Dan

I’m in.

Suggestion: don’t give money to any member directly. Paypal gets suspicious. Use a page like GoFundMe or similar. That way we can see how close to the goal we are too.

movie refference, don’t take it as rudeness, plz.
IN!!!

O-L, please accept in a spirit appreciation and gratitude for all your contributions.

you guys over therehave a different kind of understanding…

i deeply appreciate what OL does for us!

my suggestion was just a way to “make it easier accepting a gift“ due to a symbolic gesture of compensation.

Yeah you were just verbalizing that giving him a lathe will help all of us.
We will see cooler threads and learn new tricks.
He “might” give away a cool light , but that’s not why we’re buying him a lathe.
Read the OP, he’s the godfather of BLF.
And he needs to make a living with the lathe.
He needs to make some money.
He is out of work.
With big copper pills, he can sell some big lights.
Triple MTG2s need a big heatsink
Artistically, I can’t imagine what he might do.
Get him a lathe, and wait for the fireworks.
