The driver being used is a FET+1, and the +1 makes moon mode possible. The firmware has moon configured as part of its default mode group, but it can also be turned off by switching the mode group. Moon is calibrated to be a sub-lumen level, ideally between 0.2 lm and 0.5 lm.

Awesome, this sounds perfect. It might rival my Armytek Tiara Pro- Jeeze is that thing low.

MH, it blows the doors off the Armytek… think about it. half a lumen in moon (or less) and 1600 lumens in Turbo. Wink

It’s not as low as a Zebralight. My ZL SC52 has modes at 0.10 lm, 0.02 lm, and less than 0.01 lm. However, even the brightest of these seems a bit on the dim side, especially for a 1×18650-sized light, so I aimed a little higher. The sample I’ve measured is getting 0.30 to 0.35 lm depending on battery charge. And very soon I should have another sample so I can get an estimate of how much variation to expect between units.

BTW, I discovered recently that Vinh sells a light similar to the BLF A6… and it reminded me just how fantastic of a deal this light is! Compared to the Vinh model, the BLF A6 has an upgraded driver, additional firmware features, and it costs like a fifth as much for a comparable configuration.

Vinh does great work, but in this case I think we’ve made something even nicer! Smile

(and soon there will be a BLF X6v2/K6 combo with the same benefits plus more, in Krono’s new group buy)

(edit: oops, this was supposed to go in the BLF A6 thread)

Hi ToyKeeper, I suspect you meant to post this over in the other A6 GB thread? Totally agree with you though and it's why I hold off from investing too much £££ on custom lights because we know that this Forum has such great custom group buys.

P.S. Can you give me anything to help explain our flashlight passion to my Wife! She's never heard it from a girls pov, and perhaps there is something I'm just not saying right that she might appreciate or resonate with?! To her they all do the same thing and each new purchase is just one less pair of shoes!! Ta

I can try. Is your wife also a photosensitive moon-dwelling immortal?

If not, I might have trouble explaining it to her. I don’t relate well to creatures of the day.

I just… like shiny things.

A lot.

I like bright lights and I cannot lie!
The big white ones that hurt my eye!
Well built with an itty bitty waist
And a tint with really good taste…

I like bright lights and I cannot lie!

Ask your wife how much her shoes cost? If they’re typically more expensive than your lights, sell enough pairs to buy lights to equalize that obvious imbalance. Fair is fair, right? Her makeup desk, we could buy a bunch of nice cells to equalize that big disturbance in the force right there! So, tell her you’re compromising your inner outdoorsman by buying flashlights and not guns, knives, fishing poles and all the alcohol typically consumed with those toys. Wink See, you’re doing her a FAVOR buying lights!

I have over 100 lights, my wife is ok with that, remarkably. She knows I’m home with our son, not “honkeytonkin” or in general out and about wasting money, so she’s realistic and I appreciate her for that. I get her nice stuff too, which she usually stuffs in a closet and forgets about whether it’s Victoria’s Secret or a $500 professional mixer. Go figure.

The sad part is… that isn’t even unreasonable. Less-capable lights often sell for more than that. Some people made a pretty nice profit reselling the original BLF X6 for a higher price, and these will be even better.

Krono – To start off with you only need to update those with: Status = ‘Approved’ / Updated = ’N’.
After the first update it will only be a case of the new additions to this list which need updating.

All – if there are any above still with Status = ‘Pending’, and it had already been agreed by private PM only, please feel free to PM that individual again and kindly request they post a short Approval of the position swap on the thread for us to record. They could reference your original request post number, else simply which Al/CuSS list and what positions are being moved.

Any mistakes or omissions please let me know.
All position swaps should be discussed and agreed by PM first to help prevent unwanted spam in the thread. Then BOTH parties must post their request AND approval on the thread. I will then endeavour to update the swap list in this post every other evening.

Hope this is useful, please feedback if there is anything I can add or change to make it easier to track.

Keep shining,
Hirsh

Please keep in mind that this is an interest list and nothing is written in concrete yet (specs, timeframes etc.)…including no guarantee of S/N assignment. As stated previously, it is likely to be a logisitical nightmare…so please don’t expect it! We will do our best to make it happen, but, ultimately, it is about the lights, not S/N placement. Keep in mind that these lights will be Serial Numbered…so…the sooner you get you name on the list, the lower the S/N you will receive!

Explanation of why I’ve done this and some caveats to know about the list positions here.

Yes, they actually are worth more than we paid. In fact, they were worth more already when we bought them. These lights will be even more so. The fact is that people in some parts of the world, such as here in the USA, are used to paying a lot and not getting a lot. Last I looked, Lowe’s had a 1000 lumen light for ~$60 or so. Well, we can buy 1000 lumen lights all the time for half that, and they look better and are better quality than those at Lowe’s. With these Group Buys, the idea is to get an even better deal than normal, by the power of buying in bulk. For the promise of hundreds of sales, the retailer and the manufacturer are willing to work with us to lower the price and/or upgrade the lights. I expect in general, a person could get over $250USD for the V2 Aluminum set, especially if they included a decent 4-cell charger and 2 IMR 18650’s and 2 IMR 14500’s. That is quick money. You could sell lots of sets that way, I’m sure. With the right set of circumstances, and the right buyer, you could get a whole lot more than that for it. There are people that regularly pay hundreds of dollars for one flashlight that won’t have the brightness or the features that the X6 V2 will have.

I understand the economy of flashlights and what you pay in the store for a light. I mean why is the BLF edition here worth more than the standard one? I’m not talking big picture stuff. I have this light and think it’s nice, but why were people flipping this particular light?

Compared to the original, it had a few upgrades, including a copper DTP MCPCB and top binned XM-L2 emitter. But, I think the reason people were flipping them had less to do with how they compared to the original, but more to do with how they compared to every-day lights that could be bought in stores. They weren’t being re-sold here, but in the real world, where people don’t know any better.
