Glow in the dark tape around battery handle

hi

ordered glow in the dark tape from aliexpress. and wrapted it around the light.

The tape is almost as thick or thin as normal electrical tape.

this is after 2 minutes exposure to sun.

good for couple of hours of glow after few minutes exposre to light

i bought from this guy

but as per one of comment there seems to be a tape from another seller that lasts a lot longer..

2-3 dollars. I´ll try some. Thank´s for the tip.

"couple of hours of glow" ?

Be careful, this type of stuff is the first step on the slippery slope of tritium addiction.

Interesting, this glow tape could be good to use to cover the star plate under Aspherical lenses & TIR optics to add some glow to these lights when turned off. Thanks for the link.

It works quite well cut out around the LED.

after exposing to 15-20 seconds of 1 watt led flash light the tape around the torch and the tape itself (hidden from light ) for comparison.

i placed it outside my room to see how long it lasts.

edit: only 10-20 % glow left after 2 hours.

there seems to be much better glow in the dark tapes for other vendors that lasts upto 10 hours ..

One more shot

Very nice! Thanks

Nice find!
What about the alternative from the other seller?
Any more infos?

I once bought a large piece of gitd adhesive film from hobbyking which glows very good better than usual gitd tailcaps.

I used some small circles made with a puncher to mark the eswitch on some of my lights.

only red that in comment ..

this is my first gitd tape purchase.

Ah, interesting! Good to know I’m not the only one that’s a bit weird. =)

What I do is put reflective tape on my flashlights. I figure, if I ever need/drop a flashlight, then what actual light I have (left) would need all the help it could get to find that flashlight again.

Reflective “dots” (or @Werner’s ideas of punched out circles) also fit well on the tailcap when there isn’t a tailcap switch, and most flashlights have room somewhere for a quick turn of reflective tape.

Above: Streamlight Ultrastinger beater light for around the house (with black gaffers tape to add back some grip after years of use) and Fenix UC30 EDC.

Red tape is 3/8” reflective tape from REI that I later realized was expensive compared to 1/4” yellow 3M tape available 50 feet at a time from Amazon. Obviously, I was generous with the yellow stuff after that.

3M also has black reflective tape (and Amazon sells it too), but I opted for less tacti-cool, and a bit more practical visibility.

That’s freakin’ cool. I need to do this to my flashlights!

Yeah, I like that a lot. I wonder if they make GITD spacers.

As a watch lume junkie, I’m going to express my serious doubt that any of these tapes have ten hours of useful or significant glow. Likely, its not even close. That said, its a cool idea, and I will probably have to try some. Thanks for posting.

I like to put it around the legs of my Carclo optics.

Welcome to BLF

What a great first post….open up with a great idea and picture!
Welcome aboard to the best forum ever!

This look really cool! though they are all reflector-based lights, have you tried a Aspheric or TIR optic?

The Carlco looks great with the Glow

Yeah you can use it on any light really, i’ve put it in a couple of sipiks too although with aspherics it’s better if you make a resin concave mould and cover the whole of the MCPCB. With an aspheric it will throw out enough glow to read with for a little while after turning the light off. As you can see from DrafterDan’s cool first post it works well with the TIR.
