More Fake Convoys from Gearbest.

Hey there! I give you 10$ store credit if you delete this post. (wink2x)

That documented somewhere?

Note the missing voltage divider resistors and mystery controller chip.
The PCB is a carbon copy of a real 105C, apart from the tracks around chip.

And… 7135/380mA vs. 350mA.

Hi every one,

I’m really sorry this issue has brought you the trouble, we have one wrong batch in our warehouse before, now we have check it out, make the stocking units are right, if any one think you have received a wrong units, please contact our cs to get the refund to your GB wallet or resend with the package, sku and product details, beg your kindly forgiveness if bring you any trouble

bookmark for now.

ps
gearbest i hope you fix the fake convoys.

It was posted by Gearbest in one of the Gearbest threads where the counterfeit Convoys were being discussed. I got tired of searching for that post for you, but it was posted. Maybe Gearbest deleted the post and that is why I can’t find it?

Anyone else remember seeing that post?

Yes, I saw that post & from memory it was in Convoy/Simon's original thread about the Red S2+ (I may be wrong)

Edit:

Red S2+ flashlight ,for girls, for your lover

That looks better than most sub $7 UltraFire C8 lights that I have seen. After you get your refund from Gearbest, put some lube on the threads, some Arctic Silver under the MCPCB and change the driver spring. Maybe GearBest can unload the fake C8 lights for $6 and use the same Supplier that provided the fakes for a $7.98 Gearbest branded C8 with different camo patterns to choose from other than just black (just like the SK68)? Just as long as they use a proper driver, put thermal compound under the MCPCB and lube it.

i am wondering how many percent of their customers are “flashaholics“ (especially on buying cheapos).

How many people do not have a community to help them identify fake items and get advice how to deal with fraud ?

being generous to the few who caught them does not undo the fact that much more still are ripped off…

0.02 $
(i wonder how much i get offered to delete this post  )

For every one sold and spotted as fake by us there are hundreds sold to people who have no idea. Just like all the 10000 lumen torches sold on eBay. The amount of people who think my Acebeam is pathetic because their light is 3 times brighter, is unreal.

Let’s be honest there are people that have just realised their c8 is fake as this thread has evolved.

+1 well said

It’s unfortunate we see sellers resort to sourcing such fake products. Gearbest are really hurting their reputation by selling such items. When people buy from such sites and are burnt in the transaction they just dont come back. As has also been said unfortunatley many people end up buying the inferior copy and not realising it as it performs ok.

On my sample I do not think there is anything to do with the ill-matched barrel-to-head and barrel-to-tailcap threads.
When you back up 1/16 turn from tight, it feels ready to fall apart.

Hold on, I am not sure if this is actually fake - It is probably just “partially” fake. Your Convoy C8 pill seems to have square-thread, screws to hold down the MCPCB and a retaining ring to keep the driver in place, which is actually the same as the Convoy C8 V2 (the latest one is “V3”, which has the controversial integrated shelf) as shown in Simon’s thread:

But in your pictures the driver spring looks crappy and there is no any thermal paste at all, so I am wondering what happen actually…

The oem just took good parts left on the shelf from the last production run and put them together with some crappy new manufactured parts…

No one will ever know what happened, who made them, who bought them from who.

This is China we are talking about, they have stolen the song from Frozen, for Christ’s sake, changed it a little and are using it as the winter Olympic song. So don’t expect anything legit.

I suspect it is a B-grade host fitted with a fake driver and unknown emitter.

It obviously has the exact same switch and switch PCB that came with the fake S2+.
At least the spacer washer is not corroded like on the S2+.
I do not own other Convoy C8s to compare with, is it normal to a have a 17mm switch assembly in these?
It has to be manually centered while tightening the ring.

Think of how many people think they have a real 1965 Pontiac GTO when it is just a dressed up Lemans, but they are happy, so who cares?
Or all the fake Shelby Mustangs that have been made through the years and sold as real.

Anyway, back to our show and the Convoy Clone problem at hand.
So many of these vendors do not see the product other than when they are originally placing the first order.
Now another drop shipper contacts them and says “we have some Convoy overstock for $x.xx which is less than they paid for the last batch, and tells them Yes, it is identical. So they place the order.

Then the product drop ships to the customer, the really sharp customers see the difference, test the difference and raise Holy Heck.
The other customers got a Red flashlight, it’s really bright and they don’t care about the fancy box, so all is well in their world.
Only after 5-10 of these complaints from the sharp customers do they then realize that they have been had and have a problem on their hands.
Now, how quickly can they stop the supply line and change vendors?
The bogus C8’s probably came from the same jobber as the Red S2+

Bottom line is, they will work it out and get these out of their supply chain.
It will likely get worse before it gets better in that there are a lot of orders in transit, so next 3-4 weeks these things are still going to be getting delivered.
Gearbest is not sticking their head in the sand as some other vendors have done in the past with these kinds of problems, so they are trying.

If you stick around here long enough or in this hobby in general, this will not be the last clone you will receive. Nature of the beast.

Just the way I see it, YMMV
Later,
Keith
