The image clearly showed where I could cut and not, and I realised I should have probably just gone with a 11mm FET driver… much easier and more powerful
Was it hard to get the old driver out? How big was the driver? Does it have a separate contact board? Do you have any pictures of that stage of the mod?
The old driver is two stack with a contact board… see pics… , quite small, to get the driver out, I just poked a stainless steel tweezers from the top (after desoldering the star), with a medium press, it just popped out
Forgot to mention, I created a separate contact board by filing a partition board down to size and soldering the leads to the board
This is still my EDC today, it pairs really nicely with my Haiku, the T10T for wide flood and photo taking and the Haiku for throw and long distance, both are high cri (80+) as well and is carried daily…
I call them daishō, like the japanese samurai who carried 2 swords, one big one small
Just curious. How did you secure the contact board? The stock circuit is press fit with some glue. I tried pressing my circuit out. Doesn’t want to budge. I didn’t want to destroy the driver modding it.
do you think the driver is the gating item, or could the batteries be the gating item and it doesn’t matter about the driver. I guess the question is what is the max draw for thoes tiny cells.
