Xiaomi powerbank16000 dissassembled

myhken, and how much did you pay for each of this 16.000mAh power banks?
You could also put a link to seller so everione woud avoid it.

BTW, aliexpess is know source of fake Xiaomi products (among others)…

+1 Put bad seller on blacklist.

The seller is: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1763614
They was on “sale” 50% = around $12/pcs. They had 200 orders and 100% happy customer on that product. So I was sure this was legit…but no.

I paid $26/pcs on Gearbest.com, and for once I got a real product from them.

Just as I predicted. I am always amazed how people manage to screw themselves by hooking up on this “to good to be true” deals. That price screams “I Am fake” from miles away, It is LITERALLY impossible for such product to cost only 12$ and be genuine at the same time.
Also you are looking at the seller’s/product score completely wrong:
yes, by now there are 214 suckers that ordered this product but if you look closely there are only 4 buyers that left written feedback for this product so those 100% are actually from 4 customers not from 214.

Reading a customer’s feedback is the first thing you do if you want to know about the quality of actual product that people received because pictures can show anything and everything but you need to keep in mind that most of the buyers were lazy to educate themselves about the product and/or just dont know how to spot the fake product and will probably never suspect that the product is fake.
Based on this you can disregard all comments that sound like : “excellent product”.

Anyway, let’s get back to this particular case, If you read those 4 feedbacks you will see that one of them doesn’t have a clue what he ordered, russian guy - I have no clue what he said and other two confirmed that this is not original product:

Other 200 and something buyers still didn’t receive their orders or just didn’t let the feedback yet…

I know that the dream of every trader is to buy cheap and sale expensive but to be successful at than you really really have to master the knowledge, so my recommendation to you would be to stay away of cheap products and “to good to be true” offerings.

Maybe they have changed the description but I cannot see that they claim it is a Xiaomi power bank

Direct link to product

Edit: Except in the link itself :~

They have changed the listings. Lucky for me, Aliexpress save the listings that was active when I did buy the product.

Thats a nice feature! Sometimes I make screenshots, just in case

A new AliExpress seller that sold me fake Xiaomi 16000 power banks, that only will refund me 50%
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1843014 - Stand by You all the Time
He has also changes his listings, so he knew that he was selling fake ones.

you need to start a dedicated thread with all details of such encounters...

i am waiting for a chinese power bank case that can charge the bank itself at 2A. all charge themselves at .7-1.2 A..

With the amount of discussion lately on fake power banks, fake Convoys, fake cells and now fake Cree LEDs, maybe it's time to generate a dedicated section of the site to them.....

Using a charger doctor on a (non-Apple) supply that throws 2A+ into my iPad, I measured up to 1.7A going into one of my genuine Mi power banks. The current does taper as the voltage inside the pack rises though.

For best test results you need depleted cells inside the bank and try it with a number of different charge leads. I have many leads here from various devices collected over the years and very few of them are capable of carrying a high current.

The leads supplied with the Mi banks are short and seem to be using good quality (AWG?) wire.

The other dozen or so I tested and labelled last week varied from .63A to 1.7A for the same supply and power bank.

But you are mostly right - input specs are just as inflated as output specs in most cases.

Not a bad idea, I have got more fake products from a well known seller, will wait to release the info to they have responded.
But it’s seems like fake products are more normal then not fake products.

I See no Sense in Buying fake Xiaomi power banks! The are very good for the price. Five quality batteries, quality circuit, quality housing and quality usb cable for 25$…you can’t beat that.
So if someone sells them for the half price, everyone should know it are fakes.
Banggood sells the original ones, my defective was refunded fast so I would say for now they seem to be one of the best suppliers for them.

The smaller power banks can be purchased from Xiaomi direct so this might the best option for these.

Gearbest.com also sell real Xiaomi 16000mAh power banks (I have one, and the code checked out) (but you never know when they start to sell fake ones)

+1 for GB, got my 10000mAh Xiaomi from them.

So it appears that BG and GB sell original ones and have them on sale on regular basis!

Weird:

From looking through all of the posts in this thread, I am the only one from the USA.

I am still waiting to get prices from Banggood through PM’s. It has been days. I guess I should just go and buy direct through Xiaomi?

Visiting a product page would save you a lot of time>

Ordered my 10000 from Banggood on July 31 using the product page shown above. It shipped last week. And yes, I’m in the USA.

Going to use it in place of my 16000, which is going to get peeled.

After using it for two weeks for its intended use( without discharge tests and so on) I have to say the 16000mAh are a lot for me.

I have a fairly old phone(single core CPUs) with a 1200mA battery which I can charge for weeks with this powerbank. It charges fast and without problems after it is fully charged the power bank switches itself off so there is no standby loss while I am sleeping till the next morning or so.
I also like to use a small USB Fan when it’s hot outside which pulls 0.5A on high so I have plenty of capacity for this toy too.

The only thing I am breaking my mind is what should I do with the housing of the broken one, it’s very neat aluminium and the bottom and top can be screwed in easyly. I probably throw it in the metal scrap box and hope it will get some use as something someday…

I need to get one of the 10k or 16k from banggood soon. Great thread and info about the powerbank Werner.
