Lumitak Alphaelite Flashlight: "World's Brightest"

Ran across “the world’s brightest flashlight” today (exaggeratedly low emphasis on that term). Apparently a XML2 T-6 driven at 2 amps and a claimed 1000 lumens is all it takes to be “the world’s brightest.” :expressionless: lumitak.com

I saw the add on Facebook, so of course, I had to take a look. Sure enough, a lot of people seemed to have been buying them and giving pretty good reviews on their Facebook page.

Managed to find the original light on Banggood for $9.89 USD while the Lumitak is charging $59.95!
Lumitak: Alphaelite
Banggood: E3 CREE XM-L T6

Here is the charger they offer at a stiff price of $22.95, while the same one goes on Banggood for $3.49
Lumitak: Battery Dual Charger
Banggood: Battery Dual Charger

The website that is advertising the light is this Downside Survivor that seems to be buying all of banggood’s stuff, and then reselling it. I would imagine that its the same person behind both websites.

Figured this would give you guys a good chuckle!

Don’t you love it. Look around when you’re out eating, in a restaurant or diner. Families with maybe one person without smartphone. Very social in, and to, their media. The only time they speak is when they mumble their order. The rest of the meal goes by in deep silence. Only broken when there is a sharp increase or decrease of the number of likes. You could serve them low-budget microwave dinners. They would not know, their minds are elsewhere. But they buy an overpriced piece of junk. When you’re lucky, you can see them using it. The moment they are in total awe of this heavy liked piece of technology you produce your little BLF A6 SE and you say “Expecto Patronum”. Priceless

Lumisuck!

I usually just pull out my triple XP-L V6 Convoy S6, turn it on high and give them an instant sunburn J)

I nearly fell off my chair when I read this line:

“Lumitak Fashlights are engineered with precision, dual-lens optical zoom-heads, that utilize a micro-lens directly on the LED chip itself.” Omg, I didn’t know that the LED dome is actually a ‘lens’! :Sp

Well, their website looks ‘promising’, and that can actually trick some average people lol!

Pres. Abraham Lincoln said: You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Check out the beamshot. Is it just me or does it look like 3 torches are creating that beamshot? The main beam then another just to the left and right of it. Look at the cutoff point at the base of the beam

Itsonlyme: you have one heck of an eye man. I did a quick “reverse image” search on Google and it seems as though this guy stole possibly borrowed the picture from a fellow flashlight guru over on CandlePowerForums TN36 Review

I don’t know if he took those pictures himself, as they are also on a few other websites… but if so, someone should tell him.

the user bluzie is from germany and member of the “taschenlampenforum”
he uses this location for hundreds of beamshots…

532 here in a single thread

wow another “Heider” rip-off company renaming cheap lights & lying about the claims to make a ton of money from unsuspecting uneducated buyers…

On TLF he might be known as “bluzie”, on CPF and on BLF he is “amaretto”.

Amaretto is a user n TLF also

as far as i understand bluzie owns that place and they work together…

THIS IS HILARIOUS!!

File name for the beamshot image is Warsun A9

But… the actual beamshot is from a Nitecore EAX

They got me. I bought one. Didn’t believe the “worlds brightest flashlight” but it seemed like decently quality and a fair price.
This might come as a shock to some of you but I don’t know a ton about flashlights. I have a 2D cell LED Mag-Lite that is OK for what I use it for. I’ve been looking to upgrade for awhile and bought the “worlds brightest” on a whim.

So, after receiving the light and not being impressed with it I jumped on the web and discovered I got ripped off. Hopefully they will accept my return and give me my money back.

With that said, I (and I know this is probably a loaded question), can anyone recommend a legit flashlight for around the same price? I’d be willing to spend a bit more if it means a significan increase in product. Here’s what I’m looking for…

Really bright
I don’t know what it’s called or how to describe it but I like the idea of being able to use it as some type of defense weapon. Not just a smooth round finish on the frame by the lens.
From the little bit of research I did it seems like the rechargeable 18650 batteries seem to be best. (Correct me if I’m wrong).

Thank you in advance for anybody that can help me. it seems like I’ve found the right place to ask these questions.

Welcome to BLF!! Hey don’t worry we all got fool once or twice. What’s important is you’re here and from now on you will get the nice lights (probably a lot more than you need :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I assume you paid $59.95?

For that price you can get the excellent Nitecore EC4 (MSRP $65 but can be bought for less then $45). One of the brightest and highest quality for the price. 18650 is the most common type of flashlight battery and make sure to get panasonic, sanyo or samsung if you want high quality cells.

I believe you’re looking for a strike bezel, the Olight M18 Striker could be an option. But honestly the best defense weapon is already the light itself, just shine it directly to the eyes, the brightness can temporarily blind and disorientate.

Welcome to BLF!! It’ll be better to start a new thread to introduce yourself and ask questions there as some people may not read this… but never go for lights or batteries with fire in their name maybe except thorfire… You can look up solarforce for better alternatives…

Edit: better still if you are willing to have your lights modded by one of the members of our community

Brandaloo, check out Code now public! BLF A6 FET+7135 Light. Short 18350 tubes and Unanodized Lights Available

1300-1600 lumens in your back pocket is a good enough defense and at the price it is, you will be impressed. Built to spec by and for the Blf community. No exaggerated claims needed to sell it.
Also look at the Blf X6 and what can be done with it.

And check out this group buy as well for another type of flashlight, the LuckySun D80, a great light as well, not available yet, but in the very near future it is.

What a welcoming group of people I’ve found. Thank you for all of the kind words and advice. I will be sure to check out all of your suggestions and let you all know what I decide. After finding this place I sucked in to multiple threads with lots of great information. Before I knew I had been looking around for over an hour.
Again, thank you guys very much!
