US GB, LD-2 driver by led4power. One member hasn't received theirs yet, anyone else? Please chime in.

Still have several in limbo.

Fwiw the mailing cost broke down this way. A photo mailer is normally just first class postage or in this case .49 but because of the non bendable nature of the wafers an extra .22 is added for “non-machinable”. Orders of 10 boards or lots of extra wire were over 1oz so some had an extra oz stamp of .22 in addition. Outside the US (Canada, etc.) has a base of $1.20 to which non-machineable and extra oz postage may be added. Only the large combined order of DB custom and jubeldum was more than 2oz so the mailers are by far the least expensive way to go with items that can be packaged 1/4” thick or less. Springs and led wires would necessitate different packaging and postage.

Sorry, little late on this.

I got mine in the mail a while back.

It probably works fine, but I think my LED setup needs some work because there’s flickering. Pretty sure it’s not the driver, but I will have to revisit my build in a little while. Thanks for the opportunity to get one of these

And if you were to jump in the car and run something to a friend across town, what would that cost in gas, time and wear and tear to the vehicle (barring an accident or ticket of course?)

Pretty dang cheap to stick even a single driver in a flat rate box and have it go across the country, insured, for $5.25 in 2 days.

Just a reminder to post when you get them, please.

Why did I only get two of these?

They are really working out well.

Should have taken a clue from DB….

It was definitely my LED setup. I had the 3 XP-Ls on separate stars when I was having flickering issues.

I scrapped that idea, and just reflowed them onto a 32mm Noctigon triple star. No more flicking.

Driver works perfectly. However, now I have to wait for my even smaller reflectors to come in the mail before I can finally finish this thing lol.

Thank you Rufus! I got my drivers earlier today! Already stuck the 6A version in a BLF X6

How did it turn out?

I don’t have much tech info since I forgot the DMM home. However, I love it! This is my first ‘off time’ memory driver and it’s a refreshing change from ‘on time’ memory. I didn’t do the low resistance mod to the driver side spring since I forgot to put it on before I assembled the light (the excitement lol) and didn’t want to un-solder the wires from the star again, so had to attach a spring with the driver already installed. I also didn’t connect the NTC since I don’t plan to use leave the light on high unattended. The LED is a 4C, XM L2 but will likely be changed to something warmer since compared to another beautiful 4C, this one looks a bit ugly.

Bump. Please tell me you got yours.

My driver doesn’t show up yet. Hope I might get it in a few days. :open_mouth:

I got mine last week, took longer because my stuff goes to a cargo warehouse in FL first then it ships to my country.

Thanks Scott for the careful packaging!! Arrived nice and safe.

I forgot to respond here. I got the drivers and I am super grateful for your time & efforts.

Still haven’t heard from n10sivern, electricjelly, scianiac, bribe, or B52.

Or me. Thanks again.

That’s because you’re so special!

Hi Rufusbduck, sorry I just saw you wanted us to post when we received the drivers. Yes I received mine right away. Thank you very much for organizing all this.
I burnt out the first one by installing it in my Courui and then shorting the led out on the reflector when putting it back together :frowning: .
The other one went into my Convoy C8 for now, but I think the driver needs an e-switch host to fully shine.

Thanks again.

Thanks ej, I was hoping this was the case but in the dark without feedback.

I have used 2 of these to power the new Cree XHP-35 at 12V. Neven was very helpful, letting me know exactly what needed to be changed and what components to order, even provided a DigiKey link.

I have one running 2.39A to the 12V XHP-35 in a Maxtoch SN50 and another doing 3.10A to the same HI variety emitter in an Olight M2X UT Javelot. Seeing 2060 lumens in the SN50, 2300+ in the Javelot. So far so good!

It was recommended that I swap the opamp to a better grade to handle the 4 cells, but by the time I saw that info I had the hotter Javelot epoxied in, literally buried in about 8mm of JB Weld Water Weld. No turning back without a bunch of grinding, if I can even get the driver out of the light to attack it. I did go ahead and order these parts, so we’ll see how everything turns out and I’ll use the new stuff if I build another like this.

The modifications were to use 3 of the 750KOhm resistors on the right hand side of the pair at the opamp (or 250KOhm) and change the opamp to a 27V capable unit instead of the 17V rated one. This little part alone cost me over $5 at Mouser! The big 1M resistor on the inside gets changed to a 2M, and the sense resistor should probably be a 225KOhm for 2A. I left the stock 180KOhm in place and it’s maybe too much, from some testing it might be going over the top of the curve on this new emitter. Lot needs to be done to find out. Oh yeah, if using moon there needs to be a change to accommodate the change to 4 cells as well. Moon output is high otherwise.

Anyway, Just wanted to say this driver is proving very versatile and really enjoying mine so far!

Thanks Neven, for all the hard work and the quick help….
