Where did you bought your genuine omten or kan switches? Can you link some to people. I saw on FT https://www.fasttech.com/products/1135000 but I am affraid to risk. TomE said this:
I don't know what to do since I did ordered from IOS and they came without any markings. Never did complaint to IO about that. And switches are working fine. But this kind of threads, and switch reviews makes you think what have you actually bought...
Or maybe some of you guys tried to fit forward clicky to UF brothers?
@Djozz: I measured the UF1504 at approx 430 as well and I do have a couple of spare switches lying around.
I’ll see if I can replace it myself and then measure the throw again.
The realitive low amp draw could also be down to a high Vf led……
Just an update for my measured output of my best performing 1504’s now that I’ve got a calibration that should have me close to the same measurements as djozz’s Mobilux A. With the stainless collars it’s 518-520kcd. Without the collars they’re coming in at 434kcd.
That’s with dedomed direct drive XP-G2 S3 3C’s, a dedomed direct drive XP-L V6 3C is about 270kcd.
A 1405 with a dedomed XP-G2 S4 2B at 5A makes 588kcd.
Nice i almost wished i hadn’t read this……now i feel a very strong urge to pick up a 1405 & buy one of Richard high Amp buck drivers…….almost 600kcd
I just have to ask is that 588kcd from a light without a collar? I hope it is, but if not please check what you get with one because it should do about 100kcd extra on to of that 588kcd
Ok, that is too bad but good anyway :), 50-70kcd extra from the 5A driver in the 1405 over the 1504 isn’t enough to make me want to build it, because i don’t have access to a collar anyway to make it interesting
Sorry, I know you’ve asked a couple of times about them. Part of my reluctance to sell these is that the output increase for what I’d have to charge for them is not great value for the money.
If they were getting a 50% increase I’d be a lot more willing to chance the patent police (lawyers) and put them out there because of the versatility of the miniature collars. I’m still periodically trying to crack the mystery of improving the output further in the miniature size, against the advice of MEM. His testing leads him to think it’s probably a lost cause, and that it’s entirely possible the ceiling for increased output is just that low because of the size. He’s probably right, but I can’t shake the feeling that it should be possible with a higher tolerance part from proper material with coatings.
I know, it is just sad that a simple drop in for a 20% boost can not be sold openly or not openly……how “they” would ever find out is the thing i have a hard time understanding if anyone would do it.
But then i have no concept of how it is to live in a litigious country, here in Sweden that kind of things just don’t happen, so i accept your stance on it.
And that is just with the SS, MEM say it is a dead end. But i think 20% is very descent for a drop in solution that fit on most 16mm mcpcb’s aspherics.
I understand his perfectionist angle that you can get 50-70% boost if you optimize every parameter, but sometimes 20% or maybe a bit more with a correct coating for maximum blue reflection is “good enough”, especially when it meant a drop in & you don’t have to redesign the whole light engine to fit the larger collar for optimal focus.
So is the UF-1504 any good when in stock form? Would it be comparable to something like Olight M2X UT/SR52 UT/M3X UT in throw?
I have been thinking about getting a good thrower, and was considering those Olight’s earlier. Now I stumbled upon this UF-1504, but there’s no reviews of it in stock form, everyone seems to be tweaking and modding it
