Lumitak Alphaelite Flashlight: "World's Brightest"

Brandaloo, check out Code now public! BLF A6 FET+7135 Light. Short 18350 tubes and Unanodized Lights Available

1300-1600 lumens in your back pocket is a good enough defense and at the price it is, you will be impressed. Built to spec by and for the Blf community. No exaggerated claims needed to sell it.
Also look at the Blf X6 and what can be done with it.

And check out this group buy as well for another type of flashlight, the LuckySun D80, a great light as well, not available yet, but in the very near future it is.

What a welcoming group of people I’ve found. Thank you for all of the kind words and advice. I will be sure to check out all of your suggestions and let you all know what I decide. After finding this place I sucked in to multiple threads with lots of great information. Before I knew I had been looking around for over an hour.
Again, thank you guys very much!

You probably shouldn’t be looking for “defense” in a flashlight, but the A6 and the D80 for $25 and $20 will massively out perform this cheapo poor output zoomie light they advertise as something unique…but I guess it isn’t a lie, even each dogpile is unique…

PS: your “Ultrafire” batteries are probably the worst of the worst too, cost about $0.25 cents for them to buy (if that) and can be dangerous. I would throw those out and get batteries suggested in the threads on the above lights.

The Alphaelite Flashlight

Specification Sheet

Maximum Lumens: 1000
*almost certainly not

Battery Type: 18650 Li-Ion (2)
Battery Lifetime: 800 Cycles
*some batteries do last this long, just not the batteries you can buy with this light which tend to last 10 to 100 recharge range.

Run Times 2600mAh: High: 4 Hours, Med: 12 Hours, Low: 38 Hours
*if true max= 343 lumens

(2600mAh*2 Li-Ion/4hours = 1,300 mAh/hr. Cree spec sheet shows 357lumens@1,000mA, 502 lumens@1,500mA. If we take a close estimate as a proportion of current difference, that = about 24 lumens per 100mA over 1,000mA, which = 429 max lumens for this light. Next, you lose 10-20% lumens in most lights to glass and reflector, but this is a tulip edge which eats up more lumens, so if we give it a MASSIVE under estimate of losses and say its –20% only, its a max of 343 lumens.) This is ONLY if its a T5 bin cool white (which it probably isn’t, so its probably less) and ONLY if the driver is efficient (which it probably isn’t with a cheap driver) http://www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cree/LED%20Components%20and%20Modules/XLamp/Data%20and%20Binning/XLampXML2.pdf

*unfortunately this light comes with Ultrafire batteries, so if those runtimes are gotten on inferior lower capacity Ultrafire batteries, it is likely this light only produces 100 to 200 lumens max.

Run Times 3400mAh: High: 6 Hours, Med: 16 Hours, Low: 44 Hours
*see above

LED Driver Board Maximum Forward Current: 2A @ 3.2V
*Math doesn’t work here, plus Li-ions are 3.7V and so the driver should not be running on 3.2V

LED Emitter Type: CREE® XML2 T-6
*Probably not, most cheap lights have T5 emitters or worse. And now there are fake Crees out there with even worse specs, which is very likely in this light.

LED Emitter Lifetime: 50,000 Hours
*see above…who knows how long the fake Cree lasts

Modes: 5 High – Med- Low – Strobe – SoS
Variable Lumens: High: 1000 Med: 600 Low: 300

* NOT a chance, NO way and NOT likely even for high in this light.

Zoomable: Yes
Lens Type: Aspheric / Convex
Beam Angle: 5º – 120º Max
Maximum Usable Spot Beam Distance: 776 Feet
*unlikely unless you like to see through a tiny square of dim blue light at distance in low light.

Maximum Visible Signal Distance: 2,316 Meters
*see above

Body Type: Aircraft Aluminum
*aluminum is used in aircrafts, so technically sort of correct

Color: Black
Belt Clip: Yes (removable)
*had a cheap one like this which bent easily and became unusable

Wrist Strap: Yes (removable)
*had a cheap one like this and it fell apart rapidly

Switch Type: Tail Cap
Weight: 226g without batteries
Operating Temperature: –20 to 60°C
*not with Ultrafire batteries thats for sure

Brandaloo; welcome to the community! It sucks feeling like you’ve been ripped-off, but it helped you find this website which hopefully will be worth it. There’s a lot of awesome people here that make retina searing flashlights that make the sun look like a AAA Maglite 8) Newbie questions are always welcome so don’t hesitate to ask (although you may get more info than you bargained for)

Words of advice from a relatively new guy to the forum:

  • Ask a TON of questions. There’s so much info on this website that you could literally spend a lifetime learning about the in’s and out’s of how powerful flashlights work. And it’ll save you money in the long run.
  • UltraFire batteries are bad news; they are falsely advertised and have exploded before. Like will34 said, get some panasonic (my personal favorite), sanyo or samsung batteries. They last longer and work as advertised.
  • There are a few US stores that are worth looking at for your flashlight needs. They may not have a HUGE selection of flashlights, but every single one is “tried and true” so there’s no guesswork on what you’re getting. Check out Mountain Electronics (<— my usual go-to website), and Illumination Supply.
  • There are quite a few international sellers as well. Keep in mind these are in China so it takes a few weeks to get your order. Intl-outdoor is very reputable, Banggood.com has a TON of cool stuff along with Fasttech.com and Gearbest.com These China based retailers don’t always have 100% accurate details on their flashlights, so you’ll pay a LOT less, but it can become a crap-shoot on how powerful the flashlight is going to be compared to what they advertise. Do a little research on what type of emitter they are using, along with how many amps it’s running, and consult this Cree Flashlight Wiki page to see get a better idea of what you’re getting.
  • Be cautious of buying a “host” flashlight. It means that you’ll have to purchase a few extra parts and assemble it yourself (soldering). I started off just buying pre-built flashlights, took them apart, see how they worked and then moved on to the assembling them myself.
  • As far as a self defense flashlight, it really depends on how you want to use it. I prefer a small, handheld light with a pointy bezel on the front so you can crack someone’s skull if need be. Like this…
  • Whereas others like a long flashlight, like a 3D Maglite, and use it like a baseball bat. If that’s the case, Mountain Electronics has a great deal on the Maxtoch M24 Sniper that might work for you.

Like I said, tons of info. Welcome to the addiction hobby

Still cheaper compared to this 100$+ 4pcs ultrafire battery.

Is it possible to request RMM to up the amps in the M23 Sniper?

I ordered a clone of this light from Amazon, which I was promptly refunded for after stating the not-so-obvious difference between a genuine CREE emitter and the “LatticeBright” or “LB” emitter the light came with. I am trying to replace the electronics of this light with a genuine MT-G2 emitter and a FET driver from mtnElectonics, however, the “reflector” and Teflon spacer provided with this light had to be drilled to accommodate the larger diameter of the emitter…. and I did a terrible job of it, and the “reflector” piece of thin metal is probably now ruined, as it has marks all over it. My question is, can I order replacement parts from somewhere reliable, or, is there a better zoomable host out there that I could get for cheaper than parts plus shipping? Thanks!

The Lumitaky site with that ridiculous light is still online? i;m surprised by now they haven’t seen this topic exposing their scam.

I tried ordering from Bangood and they cant get it past chinese customs. Any other suggested website? I want this for my husband.

Ah well it could be worse. Saw at Fry’s a year ago a battery charger / flashlight combo with “2000 lumen” output (according to the box). The light source was a single standard 5mm while LED.

SLO town, huh? I went to cow Poly in 1970 :stuck_out_tongue: Brother and his family live there. I miss it.

I still see posts on Facebook everyday with dozens of people saying that they purchased the light, and that it’s the brightest light they’ve ever seen. :expressionless: If they only knew! I’ve tried to warn people that they can buy the same light for 1/5th the price on Banggood, but people keep buying :weary:

I like how on their Facebook page they say they have special technology not found in stores that increases the output by 20%, I commented on it and asked if that technology was an xml2 used by just about every other manufacturer going.

Take a look at the hosts mtn electronics has added. Richard has added 3 new zoomies in the past month that should work. One is a single 18650 which could run a 6V led off of two 18350s, one is a single 26650/18650, and one is a two 26650/18650 host.

sadly that’s how these scammers make their way, is preying on the thousands of uneducated unaware buyers out there who are easily fooled by false ads.

Only 2 posts? I have to wonder if the OP ever got his money refunded by “Lumitak”.

I’ve edited my original post because “Lumitak” just called me back from the voicemail I had left them. They asked some good questions and say I should expect to be receiving a refund within about 5 days. Will post follow-up to let all know whether or not that occurs.

Actually, there were 32 posts before you posted your comments.

The first 30 were on the first page. What you were looking at was the second page. 0:)

. . .

And welcome to the BLF forum!

I was referring to the number of posts by the original poster. Apparently he hasn’t posted any follow-up to say how his transaction turned out.

I don’t think Yourrid bought anything:

BTW, he posted 5 times. 0:)
