GIVEAWAY and tiny review of Thorfire VG-15

1. Olight S20. Compact, good UI, magnetic tail. Fits for almost every my need.

My favorite is the Eagle Eye X6 for outdoor use.
For Indore, I prefer my Nitecore EZ AA R5.
They are also the only two decent torches I own.
My other converted Home Depot lights and old < 50 lumen ancient LED lights now live on my shelf.

Thank you for the generous giveaway. I'll go with my favorite light. At the moment it's my Convoy S2. I do a lot of late night running and this light goes with me everywhere. It will run over 4A, but I keep a higher capacity cell in it, so it does right around 3A. It gets warm, but still manageable.

It has an AR lens and a smooth reflector. I recently put in an XPL HI and it is perfect for this light. The flood is great and the throw is more than I would expect out of something so small.

Anyone who doesn't currently have one of Convoy's S-series lights should really consider adding one to their collection. Let me zoom out a bit for a better view of this fine light.

Thank you for that last picture showing you weren’t holding the flashlight in your butt :Sp

+1

I was dreading the last picture

I don't know... Could still be butt.

Hi mate, can this be lego’d with any other 18650 tube-lights that you are able to check?

Would be interested with Convoys (S2/S2+/other), Eagle Eyes (X6,A6) and the new Manker BLF A6.

Please include me in your generous giveaway:

Your favorite light that you own and why it is your favorite (and a picture of it if possible)
Tie between the DQG AAA SS as it’s always on my EDC keychain and able to bite between my teeth for light (weight) hands-free carry.
And D25C Ti (2014) for the small pocketability/included belt carry with clever, easy mode selections. And Nitecore MH20 for the long-runtime of 18650, side switch with nice UI, but still small enough. Not too keen on the tint, but made up for by the on-board USB charging.

The light you are drooling over the most and why you want to buy it so bad (and a picture of it if possible)
The new BLF X6 2nd Edition group-buy by Kronological. I love my X6R but the mixed-metals of these new GBs should make them a beautiful purchase.

A feature or spec that you wish manufacturers like Thorfire would include or not include on their future products
I do like the convenience of built-in USB charging. As long as it is a quality circuit. I don’t like compromising the build or aesthetics of a light with rubber caps though, so the ideal is a nicely concealed USB like XTAR did.

All the best,
Hirsh

Thanks for the review and giveaway!

A “feature” that’s been on my mind and even gave me an “argh!” moment just yesterday is for single 18650 torches to be anti-roll, even without a pocket clip.

Design-wise, symmetry has a certain aesthetic beauty, but why not go out of the box and make something awesome that isn’t round and susceptible to roll away from me.

A lot of folks like the Convoy series. I am one of them.

Swapping parts around is one of the big attractions. Two sizes of battery tubes. Two reflector types. Colors. Lots of joy for the bux.

Less than $10 from RMM for a host that is super-easy to mod. The very definition of “where frugal meets with flashlight.”

This may shock you, but I actually don’t own an S2, S2+, or any A6.

I did check with my BLF X6, and it definitely does not LEGO. Although the body tubes/tailcaps look identical, they have different threading.

However, it LEGO’s perfectly with my convoy S8:

Thanks for the giveaway.

1.) My favorite light right now is my Tank007 E09. Although I do own a number of (other) extremely bright flashlights, the Tank E09 is so tiny that it is my EDC, and thus always in my pocket and available for immediate use. A small lightweight light is also preferred for camping. I also own a couple Fenix E01’s, but they are only one mode, and do not accept a 10440 battery.

Favorite light is a Shadow TC500 head on a TC350 body.

Lots of throw in a small package.
How about the Acebeam K60 for a light I want.

My favorite light is a Yezl Y3. I like it because it has 1100 lumens and a great throw.

Thanks for the giveaway.

My four sevens mini ML. Runs regulated and has a good low. No picture because I seem to have lost it. Should have attached it to my keys.

1. Your favorite light that you own and why it is your favorite (and a picture of it if possible)

My favorite is Olight S15.

It’s tiny, has a tailcap magnet, nice mode spacing, great UI, runs on 14500, 1xAA, 2xAA, 3xAA  It became even better when I installed a TIR in it. Next step will be swapping the LED for something more neutral white.

Thanks Pilotdog!

1. Favorite light is a bit of a moving target. Currently it's LuckySun D80. Compact but nice bit of throw with a usable wider hotspot than others. Better cooling fins than others, good for high amps.

2. I tend not to drool over lights. But I have been interested in the Nitecore EC4. I like side by side 18650 designs, which should be more common imo. But I'm not found of series 18650s and it might be a hassle to get the original driver out in order to replace.

3. Nice NW tint! Well spaced modes! Deep carry clip. Most of all, more quality but budget side-button lights.

And again,
* Posting "I'm in" DOES NOT enter you in the drawing
 ;)

… Sunwayman C22C! Small, two emitters, bright, tailcap lockout, tailcap magnet. What I don’t like about it is the switch - I have problems finding it by touch.

Thank you for the review!

1) My favorite light I own is my EDC, Convoy S2+, XM-L2 U4 1C on a Noticgon with a LD1 driver. Compact, versatile, reliable, and powerful…I love it!

2) I have been really drooling over Dale’s triple XP-L X6 lights. I would really like to build one, unfortunately the copper and aluminum heatsinks are no longer available. :frowning:

3) Thorfire seems to making some really nice lights. The only thing I wish they would do is use more powerful drivers. Once they come out with 3A+ drivers, I think they’ll be more on everyone’s radar. And of course copper DTP stars would also be an inexpensive way to dramatically improve the performance of their lights.

My favorite light still is a K40M, its in mint condition and I just love it, not to big,not to heavy, and mode spacing is great.
My Lumintop SD75 is on the way but I would like to have Acebeam K60 !!
And finally Thorefire could pick up some idea from A6 BLF,like reverse mode changing
