Flashaholics Anonymous: The Flashlight Purchase Refusal Kudos Thread

THAT is what the ‘Preview’ button is for!

I previewed it and thought it looked fine at first, but then after looking at it for a while thought smaller is better. Had to keep trying until I found the right size.

I know this thread is about not buying flashlights but when you see a flashlight this good looking how am I expected to resist buying them?

1) You are encouraged to post every month gone without making ANY flashlight or flashlight accessories purchases.

I bought some gift lights and they are all sent, does that count as falling off the wagon?

2) You are encouraged to report back each time you vow to go a month with no purchases, and then again if (when!) you fail. If you don’t post failures, this thread may well go dark quickly.

I have not bought a light or parts …(no wait a minute) ok I bought some xhp70 and commited to buy some nicha “c”emitters.

3) If, after succeeding one whole month (Hah!), a member wishes to renew their vows of non-spending, they are encouraged to re-post.

Let’s get in therapy. Everyone of us is LONG overdue!

I know I need help (in taking apart a 15 emitter monster that has a bum driver, help!
.

I had kind of forgotten about this thread… I’m pretty sure I “fell off the wagon”, so to speak, by getting a Meteor. But it was really handy for exploring caves and ancient ruins last week!

Also, I’m not sure how to count production samples for the BLF A6. I didn’t technically pay money for them, but instead a lot of time was spent. I wonder if this means downgrading from “addict” to “dealer”. This might mean I’m no longer on a downward spiral of addiction, but actually circling the drain at the bottom. :frowning:

TK, I wouldn’t count the production samples, or any light that you didn’t purchase. I’ve been off the wagon for quite a while now, but I’m hopping back on. My wife says I gotta stop doing group buys! I’m already in for the X6-SE v2 and D80 group buys. But except for those, it will possibly be at least next year before I buy any more flashlights at this point. I’m not counting any that may need to be bought at the request of friends and family, though. That doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. I’m only counting lights that I purchase myself for myself or as gifts.

I was going to pick up an M3XS and M23 for their awesome throw, but then I figured they would eventually be released in HI with better tint.

NO don’t resolve it. Stay strong and resist the urge to buy more flashlights. :>)
I bought 3 Trustfire L2M aluminum flashlights from Fasttech because they were about $9 each and came with a XM-L T6 drop in. I pay that much for the drop ins alone, so the flashlight is like free. But because they were so cheap I bought 2 more. What do I need 5 L2M’s for??? Nothing but I’m a flashaholic and can’t stop!!! So be thankful and don’t resolve your issue. Congrats on a 1 year chip. :>)

Yep, you’re a dealer now!

But how you wish to look at it is up to you. Perhaps… by creating a more perfect light some people will stay satisfied longer, feel less need to buy often. You are helping to create a designer higher potency drug, at a cheap price!

I told myself that after red Convoy S2+ and two Xtar H2 headlamps my only light related buy that I will ever need want will be Lumintop’s group buy SHTF light but ended up buying four more lights and some batteries and diffusers and now the fifth one is on order, just have to pay…

And that group for Lumintop BLD SD10 V2 is not even active yet!

I blame autumn, its getting dark and as every year, my light addiction kicks in exactly when the summer goes and autumn comes, makes sense to me 8) ! Not to my lady though and I cant lure her to the dark light side with that red S2+ either  !

Oh, its not just autumn with its longer dark nights but also the fact that I ordered from GB and their shipping is sloooow so none of the lights, except for the S2+, are on my hands yet :D! That might as well fuel my purchasing spree!

I now only have five lights in circulation (sold the rest) and I'm gettin' itchy again.

Well, if at least one of those lights isnt worthy, then you know you wont be able to resist the urge!

I never considered selling any flashlights. In general when you sell some of your lights do you guys make money, lose money or break even? Do you sell to friends or online? If online where? Thanks

I managed to get my last month’s expenditures under $150!
So I ordered a $32 light.

Haven’t joined a giveaway in months but did get the X6 SE, BLF Ti, and on the list for the AAA clicky. The CU SS GB is too rich for my blood and the K6 is just a clicky Minimag and I have my own plans for a DIY version. Too many and can’t have them all. My biggest collection is in parts(drivers, LEDs, switches, springs, reflectors, mcpcb’s, optics) and a huge backlog on ideas.

Once the current group buys finally finish, I’m back on the wagon for a while.

… until then, it’s open season.

That sounds familiar.

I have way too many projects waiting to be done.

Hello, my name is Duck and I bought another flashlight last month. I think for the sake of those fighting this addiction this thread should be linked in the op of every GB started and stickied at the top of the recent posts page. The only thread to be stickied there. :Sp

Sell them here!
If it’s a really crappy light, I don’t bother because it’s not worth the shipping cost. But If it’s a light that’s nice but just my taste, I usually sell it for a little less than can be bought elsewhere. Modded lights bring a small “profit” (not really if you count the cost of the time modding)

I agree or even better when you log in a warning screen with a skull & cross bones should fill the screen with a warning to go back!!

I think I need a “-holics anonymous” thread for music toys. My art room is slowly being assimilated by the KORG.
