KronoReview: Eagle Eye X6R

haha yep! we were going just off your numbers!

I’m actually going to use a different driver in mine (but still the same pin locations), though pyro ordered 2 or 3 days ago i think.

I did a quick check when I got my X6R, and everything was matching up with your numbers, so I’m not too worried.

edit: I just realized my through-hole for Pin3 isn’t in the optimal place, it’ll be very close to the USB connector, but with thin enough wire I think it should be fine.

We’ll see how they go!

K, just ordered qty 3. For $3.05, small price to pay for a little risk.

Any updates? I’m still waiting for parts to turn up to get mine modded.

I think we’re all waiting for Oshpark. You should be the first to get your pcb’s since they upgraded your order

Mine have been dispatched but I’m going to be waiting for other parts before I can get everything built and tested.

Yep - wait'n on the X6R and boards. X6R is close, should have it in next day or so.

Cool.

When you do get your boards, could you just check to make sure the pins line up? That’s the only thing I’m somewhat worried about.

Yeh sure.

Such a shame they don’t have a UK distributer. The rechargeable lights that new staff are issued with at my place of work are double the price of those and have a quarter of the ability. I showed my BLF version to the boss and he was knocked out by the quality and price but the department that deals in purchasing are not set up to deal with the likes of Banggood etc. This model would have been a shoe in for replacing the rubbish we area currently lumbered with (and that I have never even bothered to request for myself).

Good news chaps! My OSH Park boards have just turned up, sadly they have changed their packaging from the nice purple to a boring white with some purple circuitry.

But the best news of all is that the boards fit over the pins perfectly couldn’t have been any better!

Only thing to add is that the silk screen is unreadable, but we can work with out it.

Excellent. Pin spacing does look perfect.

As I feared, the pin 3 via is very close to the USB connector, which is ground. So you might need to use really small wire for pin3, or tape over it and run the wire up through the Led+ via or around the side.

Yeah I realized when I got the first of my boards that I was using too small of font. At least it’s visible in the pictures.

Yeh, it’s great. I’m going to use 28AWG so i should be ok for pin 3.
I’ve stared at the images of this driver long enough to know where everything goes.

My boards just shipped out to me from OSHPark - should be a few days.

If only this version came in XP-L HI.

Plan on using an XPL HI V3 2B on the one I'll build up with PD68's new board, using an 85. I just used the same XPL HI in BLF X6 that got 1500 lumens and ~70 kcd throw (529 meters) - nice tint too. Expected I'd get the same here - maybe a little less based on the piggyback setup because might loose a little more amps - I'll see.

Want to add more features to the firmware since I got gobs of space now. Want to get some mode set choices in there, battery check, mode memory option, beacon, etc.

Boards? - Check
Host? - Check
Firmware? - Check
Attiny 25? - Still waiting :frowning:

Just fyi... I'm working on enhancing my version of the e-switch/OFF time (e-switch and power switch support) firmware with configurable modes, a lock-out method, maybe couple more things. It will requires a 25/45/85. There will be 8 choices of mode sets, and mode memory ON/OFF, and option to go from lo->hi or hi->lo. So it's 32 combos all together.

Very nice. I’ve just been working on getting the light to switch off when the charging cable is connected as you have to have the tail switch on for it to charge. I’ve used a version of STAR_momentary which had temp monitoring on Pin3 which I’ve set to turn the light off when it detects the charger. I’ve also added a Beacon mode just because I like them. Extra long hold to activate. Currently working on an Attiny13A but which many other features disabled, I plan on using an Attiny25 for this light, giving me the extra space.

Ordered mine 9 days ago using ahirshy’s code and paid for faster shipping. Came today. Very nice little light. If you get one, remember to turn it on with tail switch, and then off with electronic switch, BEFORE plugging in the charging cable.
